Every team comes into the new NFL season with the hope that it will be better than the last, and that they can take a serious run at the Super Bowl. Of course, a lot of teams are not going to get anywhere near that level, with many seeing the reality of their situation hit home during the first few weeks of the season. In trying to figure out where a team might land, it’s probably best not to even look at the preseason, as those 4 games are seldom an indicator of what is to come.

The preseason can show how much depth a team has or doesn’t have, but the vanilla playbook and hordes of bench guys seeing time on the field does not really help us see a clear picture of what any team will look like in the regular season. The Kansas City Chiefs, one of the most exciting offensive teams from last season have shown very little of that spark through the first 3 weeks of preseason. Should we perhaps expect more of the same in Week 4? The Green Bay Packers are favored by 1 ½ at home, with the point total set at 35.

Why bet on the Kansas City Chiefs?

The Kansas City Chiefs have been knocking on the door of a Super Bowl over the past few seasons, but the addition of Patrick Mahomes at QB last season took them as close as they have been during that time. Assuming that the young QB does not have a sophomore slump this season, we can expect the Chiefs to be a dominant force in the AFC once again.

Mahomes has not seen much playing time this preseason, which may explain why KC has been poor offensively, managing just 7 and 17 points, respectively in back to back losses. Over the past few seasons, injuries to Rodgers, as well as other key personnel, have derailed this team, but this season looks to be a fresh start with a new head coach in place.

Green Bay started their preseason with a 28-26 win over Houston at home, but have since dropped games to Baltimore and Oakland, with the latter being another close on at 22-21.
