Betting NFL Wild Card Quarterbacks Picks

NFL Wild Card matchups are set. In the AFC, Bo Nix leads the Denver Broncos to Buffalo to take on Josh Allen and the Bills, Russell Wilson and the Steelers have a date with Lamar Jackson and the Ravens in Baltimore and C.J. Stroud and the Texans host Justin Herbert and the Chargers in Houston.

Over in the NFC, a healthy Jalen Hurts and the Eagles host Jordan Love and the 7-seed Packers, the Rams Matthew Stafford and the Rams step onto the SoFi turf to throw down against Sam Darnold and the Vikings and 3-seed Tampa Bay hosts Jayden Daniels and the Commanders.

Denver – Bo Nix at Buffalo – Josh Allen

Denver’s Bo Nix has turned into one of the better starting quarterbacks in the league.

Nix has been sensational down the stretch.

In Denver’s last 9 games, Nix tossed 24 TDs to 7 INTs.

He also has wheels, which means he can take off and run with the ball if he doesn’t see an open receiver.

Josh Allen is this year’s likely Most Valuable Player.

Allen rolled opposing defenses with 3,731 yards, 28 touchdowns and 6 picks.

He rushed for 12 touchdowns during the regular season.

For sure, Allen could best Nix in this matchup.

But the rookie is hot and the Bills’ D has given up plenty of fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks in the second half of the season.

Buffalo is going to struggle to contain Nix while Denver’s D, with the exception of Joe Burrow, has done a good job of keeping opposing quarterbacks from dominating them through the air or on the ground.

Nix upsets Allen on the stat sheet.

NFL Wild Card QB Pick: Bo Nix

Pittsburgh – Russell Wilson at Baltimore – Lamar Jackson

AFC Wild Card QB Matchups / Saturday, January 11th, 2025

Something’s going on with Russell Wilson and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

There was a moment this season where it looked as if the Steelers might have an offense that could stand toe to toe with some of the better offenses in the league.

Nobody expected Wilson to post Lamar like stats.

But in Pittsburgh’s last four games, Wilson has looked like the Denver version and not the Seattle version.

Russ has been atrocious, throwing 4 TDs and 2 INTs.

The Steelers failed to score more than 17 points in any of the four losses.

So if you are a Pittsburgh fan, you can’t feel bullish about Wilson and Pittsburgh having any shot of keeping pace with the player who should win a second straight MVP and his squad.

Lamar Jackson has thrown for 4,172 yards and 41 TDs.

He’s thrown a ridiculously low 4 picks.

The man has rushed for 915 yards and 4 touchdowns this season.

He’s the first player in NFL history to toss 40 or more touchdown passes and rush for over 900 yards.

When we think we’ve seen the best from Lamar, he keeps surprising us.

Jackson should win the MVP over Allen.

As far as this matchup is concerned, it won’t be one of much.

Russ has no shot of keeping pace with the most unique player to ever put on a uniform and play quarterback in the NFL.

Jackson is a first ballot hall of famer who is dialed in on winning a Super Bowl.

Ravens roll in a game where Lamar dominates.

NFL Wild Card QB Pick: Lamar Jackson

LAC – Justin Herbert at Houston – C.J. Stroud

AFC Wild Card QB Matchups / Saturday, January 11th, 2025

Although the Texans are the home team and easily won the AFC South, Houston is up against it versus the Chargers in this game.

C.J. Stroud is one of the reasons the Texans should struggle.

The 2023 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year took a step backward in his second season.

Stroud threw just 20 touchdowns to go along with 12 interceptions.

Also, the Texans finished the season losing 2-of-3.

It doesn’t appear Stroud will bounce back from the tough end to the season when Houston takes on the Bolts.

Justin Herbert has had the opposite season.

JH didn’t post massive number early but in the second half of the season, he started to get it going.

Versus Vegas in the the Bolts’ final regular season game, Herbert threw for 324 yards and 2 TDs.

The Chargers’ rushing attack isn’t as formidable as it was in first half. (Remeber to Check this out: NFL Wild Card First Half Lines)

So we should expect Herbert to throw to Quentin Johnston and Ladd McConkey all day.

The Texans won’t stop Justin from torching them at will.

NFL Wild Card QB Pick: Justin Herbert

Green Bay – Jordan Love at Philadelphia – Jalen Hurts

NFC Wild Card QB Matchups / Sunday, January 12th, 2025

Hurts has sat out Philadelphia’s last few games due to a concussion.

By the time they kick this one off, Jalen should be ready to roll.

If Jalen is one hundred percent, the matchup goes to Philly’s signal caller.

Jordan Love is a good quarterback but he doesn’t have the offensive line nor the skill players that will allow him to beat Hurts on the stat sheet.

Love must throw to Christian Watson, who may or may not play due to an injury, Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, and Dontayvion Wicks.

Hurts tossed the pigskin to A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Dallas Goedert and Saquon Barkley.

Also, Jalen can run with the ball while Love is more of a drop back passer.

Unless Hurts continues to suffer the effects of the concussion, Jalen should have no trouble handling the Packers’ D while posting much better stats than Love.

NFL Wild Card QB Pick: Jalen Hurts

Washington – Jayden Daniels at Tampa Bay – Baker Mayfield

NFC Wild Card QB Matchups / Sunday, January 12th, 2025

Baker Mayfield could throw 3 TD passes, the Bucs could beat the Commanders by 10, and Baker might still lose out to Daniels on the stat sheet.

The reason is simple.

Mayfield doesn’t always run while Daniels is one of the better rushing quarterbacks in the league.

Jayden for sure could run for a TD or two in this.

He should hook up with Terry McLaurin at least once.

Also, tight end Zach Ertz has begun to click with Daniels.

Jayden is going to throw to Ertz all day if the Bucs pay too much attention to McLaurin and Washington’s rushing attack.

On the flip side, Baker will hand the ball off to Bucky Irving 25 to 30 times in this.

Running backs have feasted on Washington’s front seven this season.

So we should expect the Bucs to have a game plan that revolves around giving the ball to Bucky and letting him chew up clock.

If this does become a shootout, Daniels still has the edge.

Daniels wins the QB matchup while the Buccaneers win the game.

NFL Wild Card QB Pick: Jayden Daniels

Minnesota – Sam Darnold at LAR – Matthew Stafford

NFC Wild Card QB Matchups / Monday, January 13th, 2025

The Minnesota Vikings had a chance to beat the Detroit Lions this past Sunday Night Football and secure not only the NFC North title but also home field throughout the playoffs.

The Vikings didn’t get it done because there is an issue on this team that hasn’t gotten enough attention.

Brian Flores is a fantastic defensive coordinator.

But he’s put together a unit that it terrific against the rush and has major problems versus the pass.

Flores has used smoke and mirrors for most of the season and it hasn’t gotten the attention it deserves.

But that doesn’t mean Stafford lights up the Vikings secondary.

Sean McVay is going to have a conservative, let’s move the ball at a snail’s pace strategy to keep the pigskin out of Sam Darnold’s hands.

Darnold still gets the QB victory but the Rams could pull off the home upset win.

NFL Wild Card QB Pick: Sam Darnold
