The semifinal games will be played on Tuesday and Wednesday. It begins with Tigres playing Toluca on Tuesday, followed by Cruz Azul going against the 3-time defending champion, America, on Wednesday.

The games will be played over two legs, home and home, after which we will know who will be competing for the big prize.

While Tigres and Cruz Azul are both favored to win Leg 1, the Liga MX betting odds overall are:

  • Cruz Azul +300
  • Tigres +400

Top Liga MX Players & Props to Watch

There are several ways to play without just picking the outcome of every game. Besides the Liga MX team props, you can also take advantage of props on individual players.

Who will score the most goals and assists in the semifinals, and will any of the goalkeepers be at their best and deliver clean sheets?

Similarly, things can get heated when you get to this stage of any tournament, so yellow and red cards are another prop to consider.

In short, there are countless ways to wager on the games without worrying about the final score.

Liga MX Betting Predictions, Picks and Parlays

We will get to my Liga MX betting predictions shortly, but for now we need to talk about the sharpest betting tips for the semifinals.

In my opinion, the first leg result tends to dictate how things will play out in Leg 2. In the opening game, the road team generally tries to keep things close so that they have a better shot at playing their regular style at home.

It is not uncommon to see the opening game end in a draw, which opens the door for a very specific bet. The Liga MX draw no bet odds are what you should be looking at.

It’s a relatively risk-free way of playing the draw in a specific game, which is generally one of the toughest bets on the board. It is lesser odds than playing a straight-up draw, but again, the risk is greatly reduced.

Pro Writer John Watson’s Liga MX Picks for the Semifinals

The final 4 teams are, as you would expect, pretty evenly matched, so who do I believe will move on to the final?

Over the last 5 meetings, Toluca has lost just once to Tigres, so you have to like them to move on.

The Cruz Azul/America matchup might be a little tougher to handicap. America has won 3 straight championships and are obviously playoff proven, so I like them to win, too.

Apertura 2024 Liga MX Betting Semifinals Leg 1 Matchups

We are heading into crunch time in the Mexican Liga MX Apertura playoffs, as we are now down to the final four teams.

Yes, the semi-finals are coming our way this week, with both games played over 2 legs.

Betting Liga MX Semifinals Analysis

None of these teams can win the overall matchup in the first game, but what they can do is make things very difficult for their opponent in the return leg.

The teams playing at home in Leg 1 are going to want to stamp their authority, while the road team will be looking to either spring a surprise or keep things manageable for themselves heading home.

We are going to take a look at both matchups, going over how they got to this point, and how things looked in previous meetings.

When we have done all that, we will also make a prediction, so let’s get to it.

San Luis +187 vs Monterrey +145 Draw +228

When: Wednesday, December 4, 2024, 10:00 PM
Liga MX Totals: O/U 2.5

I think we can start off by saying that this has all the makings of a close one, as there was little separating these teams in the regular season.

San Luis finished in 6th, avoiding the play-in portion of the tournament, just 1 point back of Monterrey.

That meant that San Luis had the tough task of going against Tigres in the quarterfinal, but they made it look very easy in the home leg of that matchup, winning 3-0.

They slammed the door shut on Tigres in Leg 2, drawing 0-0 to comfortably move into this stage of the tournament. They now have 4 wins and 2 draws in their last 6 games.

Monterrey also had to go up against a higher seed in the quarterfinal given their final standing in the league, but they were also able to spring the minor upset against Pumas.

They opened that one up with a slim 1-0 win at home in the first leg, but the second leg turned into a total shootout, with Monterrey winning 5-3 to close things out.

They had a little bit of a rough patch to close out the regular season, but they have now won 4 in a row ahead of this meeting.

There is very little separating these teams in previous meetings, but San Luis has been a little better in the home games, so they might head out for Leg 2 with a lead.

That might well be enough to see them through.

America +172 vs Cruz Azul +159 Draw +226

When: Thursday, December 5, 2024, 9:00 PM
Liga MX Totals: O/U 2.5

This is an intriguing matchup for a variety of different reasons, not the least of which is that you have the defending champions going against the team that finished top of the league in the Apertura 2024.

America has won each of the last 2 championships, but they have had to go the tough route to get here this time around, making it through the play-in and the quarterfinals.

They needed penalties to get through the play-in, but then came up with a 4-0 aggregate win over Toluca.

Cruz Azul looked to be in real trouble in their quarterfinal matchup against Tijuana. Going down 3-0 in Leg 1, but they managed to turn that around at home in the second leg.

They cannot afford to have another opening leg like that here, as they are unlikely to be able to overturn that sort of deficit against a team that has made a habit of winning championships.

These teams have split their last 2 meetings, with the home team having the edge each time.

Cruz Azul is the more threatening of the 2 on the offensive side of the field, which I think gives them the edge over 2 games.

Betting Liga MX Semifinals Odds to Win the Apertura 2024

  • Monterrey +177
  • Cruz Azul +188
  • America +210
  • Atletico San Luis +740
