It’s another big weekend of racing in IndyCar this weekend, with the end of the season now very much in sight.
While there are 5 races to come, there are only 4 weekends of racing to come, with one of the remaining events being a doubleheader weekend.

4. Colton Herta | 354 points |
My Betting IndyCar Bommarito Analysis
As always seems to be the case with IndyCar, it is looking as though the race for the top spot is going to go all the way down to the wire.
We do have a familiar face at the top of the driver standings, but will it remain that way through the final 5 races?
We might get a clearer picture after this weekend’s race, which is the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 in Madison, Illinois.
Let’s take a look at the potential winners here.
^Àlex Palou
With 2 championship wins in the last 3 seasons, Palou came into 2024 as the favorite to win it all again.
He is very much living up to the hype, as he is once again in the #1 spot in the driver standings with the season winding down.
A lead at this late stage is always good, but it is far from a convincing lead, with Palou 49 points up on the chasing pack.
He has not won for a while now, though, although he does have a pair of podium finishes in his last 4 races.
The Gateway track is one that has not been kind to Palou, so I’m not sure his winless streak ends this weekend.
^Indycar Predictions provided by
Will Power
It has been a strange kind of season for Power, who is currently sitting in 2nd overall.
He has been perhaps too inconsistent to win a championship, but that said, he seems to be able to come up with a win just when it looks like he is going to fall out of the championship race.
Can he do that again this weekend on the Gateway track?
Power has been decent at this venue and has been in the top 10 in each of the last 3 seasons. He needs more than that to put pressure on Palou, so I might take him for a top 3 finish.
^Scott Dixon
If I was going to pick anyone to pull off the comeback and run down Palou for the win, I would probably go with Scott Dixon.
This is a driver with nothing else to prove in this sport when you consider he has multiple championships under his belt.
That said, he never seems content to rest on his laurels and is once again within striking distance of the lead.
He has been on good form of late, too, finishing no worse than 4th in each of his last 2 races. He won this race last season, and I like him to repeat.
^Colton Herta
At this stage of the proceedings, you would have to say that Herta is a longshot to come from behind and win it all, but he certainly made things interesting with a win in Toronto in the previous race.
That victory leaves him 57 points out of the top spot, with 3 drivers ahead of him, so a lot would need to go his way for Herta to end the season as the new champion.
He has never cracked the top 5 on the Gateway track, so I am not sold on him this weekend.
