Silverstone Circuit Spotlight: Expert Analysis and Betting Picks

We are heading into another big weekend of racing in MotoGP, and once the British Grand Prix is complete, we will have officially hit the midway point of the season.

Once this race is over, there will still be 10 races to come, and while there are a lot of points on the board, the odds for the world championship suggest that we are looking at a 2-horse race.

1. Francesco Bagnaia | 222 points
2. Jorge Martin | 212 points
4. Enea Bastianini | 155 points

My Analysis

There certainly is a point gap starting to open up between the top 2 riders and the rest of the pack, but a lot can happen in 10 races.

If you are of the belief that someone can come from behind and steal the championship, now might be the time to get that wager on.

For now, we are focusing on the next race up, so let’s take a look at the major players.

Francesco Bagnaia

The two-time defending champions has spent most of the season looking up at the top spot, but he is now back in what he is sure to believe is his rightful place.

Bagnaia has been turning up the heat of late and comes into this one having won each of the last 4 races, as well as 5 of the last 6.

While he is now back in the #1 spot, it is not the time to relax, as his lead is a mere 10 points.

You have to like his chances to keep his run alive in the Great Britian rally, as he has a win and a 2nd place finish in that race in the last 2 seasons. Hard to bet against him at the moment.

Jorge Martin

Winning a championship requires an incredible level of consistency, but it’s tough to stay on top when you have another rider in amazing form.

That is where Martin finds himself right now, as he has been about as consistent as it gets this season, but he has fallen off the pace with Bagnaia winning every week.

Martin has a pair of wins this season and has routinely been on the podium, but he was forced to retire in the last race, which meant zero points and losing the top spot. Top 3 this weekend looks like a safe bet.

Enea Bastianini

Like we said at the top of this piece, it is tough to count out every rider with half of the season still to come.

That said, Bastianini is in the same type of position as Marquez in that he has yet to win a race this season.

How can anyone hope to close a 67-opoint gap without winning races between now and the end of the season.

That is where Bastianini is right now. Can he start winning this weekend? My guess is no.
