With only four weeks remaining in the CFL season, the race to the postseason is in the final descent. Here are my picks for the four games in Week 13 so you can bet against their CFL Betting Odds!
2021 CFL Week 13 Betting Preview
Friday, October 29: Calgary Stampeders at Ottawa RedBlacks
The Stampeders are coming off a tough home loss to Saskatchewan this past weekend. Luckily, Dave Dickenson’s team should have no problem bouncing back as they face the worst team in the CFL.
Ottawa has been a mess offensively in 2021 and should have trouble putting points up against a Calgary defense that has gotten better as the season has progressed. Take quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell and the Stamps to win by double-digits on Friday.
The Pick: Calgary Stampeders 24 – Ottawa RedBlacks 9
Friday, October 29: Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Edmonton Elks
The Ticats put up 32 points on Ottawa in Week 12, with starting quarterback Jeremiah Masoli finally back healthy. Masoli looked like his old self, completing 25/28 of his passes for 320 yards and two touchdowns.
Speedy receiver Brandon Banks also showed glimpses of promise, with five receptions for 51 yards. He’s going to be a massive key to Hamilton’s success going forward and should continue to get better as he hasn’t been right up until this point.
Although Edmonton is coming off a well-needed bye, all signs point towards Hamtilon prevailing on the road.
The Pick: Hamilton Tiger-Cats 27 – Edmonton Elks 16
Saturday, October 30: BC Lions at Toronto Argonauts
The Lions are in an absolute freefall, losers of their last four games. To make matters worse, they were shut out last week for the first time in 51 years. Now they face another great defense in Toronto, who are battling Montreal for first place in the East Division.
The Argos are a perfect 4-0 at home this year. Without the services of Lucky Whitehead for BC’s offense, expect Toronto to improve to 5-0 at BMO Field and for BC to continue to flounder.
The Pick: Toronto Argonauts 24 – BC Lions 13
Saturday, October 30: Saskatchewan Roughriders at Montreal Alouettes
Even with starting quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. sidelined due to injury, the Alouettes sit first in the East Division at 6-4. Montreal haven’t finished first in the division since 2012, but running back William Stanback is giving Als fans all the reasons to get excited. Stanback leads the CFL in rushing and is averaging 6.6 yards a carry.
This week the Alouettes play host to the Roughriders, who possess the same record at 6-4. The Riders’ defense has been great all season long but have yet to face the leading rusher. I think Montreal will dominate the time of possession in this one and keep quarterback Cody Fajardo and the Riders offense off the field for the majority of the night.
Fajardo has been underwhelming for much of the season, and the Riders are just .500 on the road thus far. Take Montreal in a close one at Percival Molson Stadium.
The Pick: Montreal Alouettes 23 – Saskatchewan Roughriders 17
