10 Florida State -10.5 vs Georgia Tech
On paper, Florida State should cover.
But on the field, Georgia Tech has a real shot of upsetting FSU.
The issue is one of consistency.
The Seminoles replaced star players DE Jared Verse and quarterback Jordan Travis with transfers D.J.
Uagalelei, who will pilot FSU’s offense, and transfer Marvin Jones from Georgia.
Both are talented players, but they aren’t on Travis’ or Verse’s level yet.
G Tech returns starter Haynes King at QB, it’s offensive line, and wide receivers.

Georgia is loaded on both sides of the ball.
Unless something crazy happens, Carson Beck should be get an invite to the Heisman Trophy presentation at the end of the year.
The UGA defense will feast on Cade Klubnik and Clemson’s offense.

8 Penn State -8 at West Virginia
West Virginia often sends out a competitive team that scores a lot of points.
But the odds seem light.
Yes, Penn State heads to West Virginia.
Still, the Nittany Lions should roll.
The defense is always good.
The offense will take a major leap forward because it’s Drew Allar’s second season under center.

19 Miami FL -2.5 at Florida
The Miami Hurricanes made one of the best transfer moves of the season.
Cam Ward is an absolute weapon at quarterback.
Ward flirted with going to the NFL but decided to return to school.
Because the Pac-12 no longer exists, Ward decided to play at Miami and for former Oregon head coach Mario Cristobal.
Miami is under the radar as a College Football Playoff contender.
They won’t be for long.
Hurricanes blow past the spread in an impressive road victory.

Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman uses the portal well.
He transferred Riley Leonard from Duke to play quarterback.
That’s going to help, but Freeman and the Irish could be in some trouble in their first game of the season.
Mike Elko, who coached Riley at James Madison, inherits a deep Texas A&M squad.
Conner Weigman is a talented quarterback with weapons.
Elko is a master defensive coordinator.
So expect the Aggies’ D to be a major surprise in the SEC this season.

Fresno State at 9 Michigan -21.5
The National Champions had to replace a ton of talent, which is why taking the points on Fresno State makes sense.
Michigan replaced the talent lost to the NFL with players already on their roster.
That’s not a terrible thing, but those players don’t have under the big lights experience.
9-of-11 starters on offense for the Bulldogs of Fresno are upperclassmen.
The defense boasts 11 starters that are either juniors or seniors.
This one is going to be much tighter than the spread.

Wyoming at Arizona State -7
Arizona State shouldn’t be favored by 7 points over anybody.
The Sun Devils especially shouldn’t be favored over a Wyoming squad that is fields a massive run blocking offensive line.
The Cowboys are big, strong, mostly upper classmen who play hardnosed push the pile forward football.
Wyoming has a real shot of winning this straight up.
