G2 Esports vs FURIA Esports

  • When: Wednesday, October 20 – 15:00 CEST

G2 Esports will clash with FURIA on Wednesday, October 20, in the first round of the Battle of Betway #2. It will mark their first meeting since April when FURIA won 2-0 with 16-10 on Mirage and 16-5 on Vertigo.

The only previous meeting of 2021 happened in January when G2 won 2-1 with 16-12 on Inferno, 14-16 on Mirage, and 16-10 on Nuke.

G2 Esports enter this match as heavy betting favorites, which might make sense since they’re higher rated (no.5) than the Brazilians (no.16). However, with the form G2 have been showing of late, it isn’t easy to be too optimistic about their chances to justify that tag.

G2 Esports have recently finished Intel Extreme Masters XVI – Fall: Europe in sixth place, to which they added another disappointing placement at the BLAST Premier: Fall Showdown 2021, where they landed in fifth-eighth, following a 1-2 loss against MAD Lions.

What’s more, G2 Esports are 4-3 across their last seven outings, with wins against mouz (16-10), Team Fiend (2-0) and Lynn Vision (2-1), and three losses against ENCE (1-2), Movistar Riders (1-2), and MAD Lions (1-2).

While G2 Esports are a very stacked team, something isn’t clicking. As a result, roster changes are highly likely on the horizon for G2, which can’t do any good for their morale.

Even though FURIA Esports are far from one of the world’s best teams, they are definitely good enough to put up a fight here. And considering the shaky form G2 have been showing, there is a good chance FURIA can cause an upset.

Prediction: FURIA Esports to win

Ninjas in Pyjamas vs BIG

  • When: Wednesday, October 20 – 16:00 CEST

Ninjas in Pyjamas have emerged as one of the top teams in the world, currently ranked no.3 – the organization’s peak placement. The Swedes have earned their right to be considered as one of the top teams in the world currently.

At the start of October, NiP won Intel Extreme Masters XVI – Fall: Europe adding to their first-place finish at the BLAST Premier: Fall Groups 2021 from September. Even though those are NiP’s only two tournament wins of the year, there is no denying that NiP look very scary.

BIG have not achieved much on the year and were particularly disappointing of late. The German quad placed 10th at Intel Extreme Masters XVI – Fall: Europe and have recently finished the Elisa Invitational Fall 2021 in the quarter-finals.

Their only two tournament wins of the year happened in June, when BIG won Gamers Without Borders 2021, and in April, when they claimed the Funspark ULTI 2020 title. Since Gamers Without Borders, BIG haven’t placed higher than top-six.

This is a warm-up tournament that doesn’t mean much, so anything can happen; however, with the form NiP have been showing, it’s hard to doubt them.

Prediction: Ninjas in Pyjamas to win
