2019 Barbasol Championship Odds, Preview & Prediction

Written by on July 17, 2019

The eyes of the golfing world will be across the pond in the UK this weekend, as the British Open will be in full swing starting on Thursday. While the best players in the world go after a major to add to their resume, 136 other players will be staying in the US to play in the 2019 Barbasol Championship.

For many of the players in this tournament, the event is a little bit of a do or die scenario, as the final standings in this tournament will help determine which players get to keep their PGA Tour cards. These players will be in Kentucky at the Champions Course at Keene Trace. You may not have heard of most of these players, so let’s take a look at some of the Golf Betting favorites to win it all at Kentucky.

Russell Henley (+2200)

Since it is the top 125 players in the FedEx Cup standings who will still be playing in the PGA from this point forward, it’s fair to suggest that Henley will be safe. He is currently sitting at #83 in those rankings and has had some very decent performances this season, the best of which was a #2 finish at the John Deere Classic.

That was his only top 10 finish this season, although he did land in the top 20 on a couple of different occasions. He does have 3 career wins in the PGA, but the last of those came in 2013. Still, he should be able to do well in this group.

Bronson Burgoon (+2800)

Burgoon came into this season with an exemption after finishing in the top 125 last year, but he is going to have his work cut out to maintain his current status. Coming into this weekend, he is ranked #139 in the FedEx Cup standings. He has steadied his game a little in recent events, though.

After going through a stretch where he missed the cut in 4 of 5 tournaments, he is now on a run where he has made the cut in each of his last 4 appearances. His best performance came at the CIMB Classic in the early part of the season, where he finished tied for 2nd.

Sepp Straka (+2800)

The Austrian turned pro in 2016 and is still looking for his first career win. Perhaps more importantly, though, Straka is looking to hold on to his PGA Tour exemption. He is very much on the fringe right now, as he is ranked at #138, so he has some work to do to break into the top 125. A win here might just help make that happen.

Sepp Straka is one of the favorites to win the 2019 Barbasol Championship.

While Strake hasn’t had any wins, he has had some decent performances this season, with his best finish coming at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, where he was T11. This is a real chance for him to crack the top 10 for the first time this season.

Jason Dufner (+2800)

The last few years have been a bit of a fall from grace for Jason Dufner. There was a time when he was one of the best players on thro tour, with his best performance coming in 2012 when he has 2 wins.

Overall, he has had 5 wins on the PGA Tour, and while he has had zero this year, he has had a pair of top 10 finishes. He has missed the cur in 2 of his last 3 tournaments, but if he can get back to his earlier form this year, he is a very good bet at great odds.
