Betting CFL 2024 Season
Entering Week 11, There is Good Value on Montreal Alouettes to Win Grey Cup.
The Montreal Alouettes look more than prepared to defend their Grey Cup title.
Last year, the Alouettes winning was a bit of a surprise.
Many people believed Toronto was the best team in the East Division.
But no one will be thinking that this year.
The Alouettes are 8-1 to start the season and are impressively 4-0 away from home.
Despite Montreal’s hot start, the British Columbia Lions have the best odds to win the Grey Cup at +175.
The Alouettes are second at +225.
That seems like good value in Montreal, especially since B.C.’s quarterback is shaky.
Saskatchewan is a dark horse in the race.
The Roughriders are +600 to lift the cup.
Montreal vs Saskatchewan
Saskatchewan quarterback Trevor Harris is on the six-game injured list because of a knee injury.
The Roughriders have lost three of their past five games.
Last week, Saskatchewan had to settle for a tie against Ottawa.
The Roughriders’ issue has been inconsistency on offense.
Quarterback Shea Patterson has been struggling to adapt to the CFL, but he did throw for two touchdowns last week against Ottawa.
Montreal is 6-3 against the spread.
Montreal had to rally from a 16-3 halftime deficit to win the first game.
The Roughriders are 6-3 against the spread.
The total has gone over in six of Saskatchewan’s nine games this season.
Back Montreal to cover the spread in another close game.
Ottawa vs Calgary
The Stampeders have been excellent at home this season.
Calgary has won all four of its games at McMahon Stadium, but is only 4-5 overall.
The Stampeders will hope to continue that trend when it welcomes the Redblacks this weekend.
Calgary has received excellent quarterback play this season from Jake Maier and hopes that he can carry them to another win.
Maier has thrown for 2,355 yards with 14 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
Maier has topped 300 yards passing in three of Calgary’s last five games.
Ottawa would like to bounce back from a tie with the Stampeders last week.
The Redblacks are on a four-game unbeaten streak, including a dominant 33-6 win over the Stampeders at home.
Ottawa is 5-3 against the spread this season.
The Redblacks won’t dominate the Stampeders on the road like they did at home.
Edmonton vs Hamilton
But how much momentum can the Elks continue to build?
The Elks are 5-4 against the spread, but were embarrassed by Hamilton in late July as three-point favorites.
But things quickly went sour when Hamilton had to take on defending Gray Cup champions Montreal.
The Alouettes handed the Tiger-Cats a pair of losses to stunt their momentum.
Hamilton quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell must cut down on the turnovers if Hamilton is going to turn things around.
Mitchell has thrown 10 interceptions this season.
While Mitchell has also thrown 18 touchdown passes, the turnovers have been soul crushing for Hamilton.
The Tiger-Cats are 2-7 against the spread this season and have seen three of their past five games go over the total.
During the last meeting between the two teams, Edmonton allowed Mitchell to throw five touchdown passes.
If the Elks can tighten things up on defense, they should be able to grab a win.
This is a spot to back the Elks, reluctantly, as either team is capable of a weak or strong performance depending on the week.
Winnipeg Blue Bombers (-1) vs BC Lions
The Lions saw what life without Vernon Adams Jr. looked like last week.
It was ugly.
B.C. got pounded by Edmonton and the Lions decided to make a major signing.
B.C. chose to sign former Most Outstanding Player Nathan Rourke to play quarterback.
It was an interesting decision given that Adams was on pace for a historic year before his injury.
But football is a business and teams are looking to bring home the trophy.
Rourke and Adams may be unavailable to play this weekend after spending a few seasons in the NFL.
BC has lost three straight games, all on the road.
Coming back home should provide some comfort, but the offense will have to play better.
When the Lions last met up with Winnipeg, the Blue Bombers shut them out.
The Blue Bombers are only 3-6 this season.
Winnipeg is 2-7 against the spread.
Keep a close eye on the injury report for this matchup.
If Adams can play, or even in the unlikely certainly that Rourke suits up, this is a good chance to back BC at a small number if the lineup is right.
If the Lions are forced to go with Jake Dolegala at quarterback again, back Winnipeg.
But make sure to monitor who plays in this one closely.
