3. Denny Hamlin | 712 points
4. William Byron | 743 points

My Cup Series Analysis

That, though, is a conversation for another day, as our focus is on the remainder of this season and the battle for playoff spots.

The Round of 16 cut is coming soon and time is running out for drivers to stake their claim for a postseason spot.

The next opportunity to pick up valuable points comes this Sunday in Darlington with the running of the Cook Out Southern 500.

The bookies have released their odds for this one, so let’s take a look at the favorites.

Kyle Larson NASCAR Pick +500

There is a fantastic battle going on for the top spot in the driver standings and the bonus playoff points that come with landing there.

Larson is very much in that hunt, sitting just 17 points out of the #1 spot. He would almost certainly be there had he not skipped a race to take part in the Indianapolis 500, but there is still time for him to get back to the top of the heap.

Things have not been great for Larson over the last couple of races, as he was not a factor in either of them.

We could, though, expect a better performance this weekend, as he won this race last season. Top 3 seems like the way to go here.

Tyler Reddick NASCAR Pick +510

As we head into the final few races of the season, it is Reddick who is sitting at the top of the driver standings, but can he remain there with former champions breathing down his neck?

I think there is a very good chance that he can, as I fully expect him to pick up some points this weekend in a race that he really seems to love.

Over the last 2 seasons, Reddick has landed on the podium in this race, finishing 3rd and 2nd, respectively.

I think he goes one better this weekend and wins this race.

Denny Hamlin NASCAR Pick +540

It has been something of an up and down season for Hamlin, as he has had trouble staying consistent throughout.

Even though he has won 3 races this season, which is the 2nd best total among all drivers, he still finds himself sitting down in 8th in the driver standings.

He is coming off a poor run in Daytona, so if he follows the trend of the entire season, he might be ready for a bounce back performance this weekend.

Denny has won this race in the past, so look for him to potentially finish in the top 3.

William Byron NASCAR Pick +860

After making it to the Championship Round for the first time in his career last season, Byron is looking to go better than his 3rd place overall finish from 2023.

He is very much in the hunt, sitting in 5th overall heading into this weekend.

Byron got out to a blazing fast start, winning 3 races in the early going, but wins have been hard to come by of late.

Darlington is a track that he seems to enjoy, though, so I would be more than willing to wager on him as a top 5 finisher on Sunday.
