Why Bet on Utah?

Utah evened the series with a 100-99 home win on Saturday. Rudy Gobert gave Utah the lead with an alley-oop dunk with 11.0 seconds left. Utah held the Mavericks to 18 points in the fourth quarter after surrendering a double-digit lead in the second half. Dallas made just two baskets through the first seven minutes of the fourth and shot 33% overall in quarter.

The Jazz became the fifth team in the last 10 postseasons to win after trailing by at least four points in the final 40 seconds. Teams were 4-701 in that span entering Saturday’s game.

“A lot of people are talking about our team, our guys, the future, what can happen, what might not happen, about a lot of different things that at the end of the day for us right now don’t matter,” Gobert said. “We have a team, we’re 2-2 in the series, and that’s our focus.”

In 38 minutes, Donovan Mitchell shot an inefficient 7-of-21 shot for 23 points to go with seven assists and six rebounds. Mitchell continues to struggle shooting the ball in this series as he is only making 39.7% of his shots. However, he made some big plays down the stretch Saturday.

Mitchell posted three-straight 30-plus point scoring efforts in Game 1, 2 and 3 of the 2022 Playoffs (GM 1 – 32, GM 2 – 34, GM 3 – 32). His career postseason scoring average is 29.0 points in 37 games, which marks the fifth-best playoff scoring average in NBA history (min. 20 GP). He is currently averaging the most points per game in the 2022 NBA playoffs (30.3 points per game).

With a three-pointer late in the first quarter, Mitchell became Utah’s all-time leader in made three-pointers with 127 — doing so in just 37 games. He passed Byron Russell, who made 126 three-pointers in 96 games. That three-pointer just added to Mitchell’s growing legacy in the postseason, where he now ranks fourth in points (1,073), seventh in assists (175), and ninth in steals (45).

Jordan Clarkson shot an efficient 9-for-16 from the field for 25 points off the bench. Gobert double-doubled with 17 points and 15 rebounds.

Doncic is now averaging 33.3 points per game in 14 career postseason games, the second-highest scoring average in playoff history (min. 10 games played), behind Michael Jordan’s 33.4 ppg.

Jalen Brunson scored 23 points with five rebounds and three assists with zero turnovers across 32 minutes. Brunson continues to dominate the Jazz, as he has scored 119 points, grabbed 21 rebounds, chipped in 18 assists, and only turned the ball over three times in four games. Brunson is averaging 29.8 points (.483 FG, .409 3FG, .857 FT), 5.3 rebounds, 4.5 assists while committing just 3 turnovers in 38.5 minutes per game in this series.
