For the top-ranked teams in college basketball, the opening few weeks of the season tend to amount to little more than the equivalent of warm-up games. That is because we see a lot of mismatches in the early going as teams try to prepare for the bigger battles ahead. Yes, we still get the occasional game that sees ranked teams go head-to-head, but those are few and far between in the early going. Despite all of that, there are always games on the schedule that are interesting for one reason or another. Let’s now look ahead to the coming week to try and identify some games that might be well worth a look so you can bet against their NCAA Basketball odds.
Top College Basketball Week 3 Games to Bet On
Arkansas Razorbacks Vs Kansas State Wildcats – Monday
The early part of the season is devoted to tournaments that serve as warm-ups for all the teams involved. This one falls under the Hall of Fame Classic Tournament and is worth a look because it features a pair of unbeaten teams squaring off. The Razorbacks have looked very comfortable in going 3-0 to start the season, while the Kansas State Wildcats will be happy after winning their first 2 games of the season.
Gonzaga Bulldogs Vs UCLA Bruins – Tuesday
We spent the opening of this article talking about how we rarely see huge matchups at this stage of the season, but we need to take that back a little with this one. This is the #1 ranked Gonzaga Bulldogs taking on the #2 ranked UCLA Bruins in what is without a doubt the game of the week. Both teams come in with a perfect 4-0 record, so something has to give in this one.
Memphis Tigers Vs Virginia Tech Hokies – Wednesday
Our next game of the week sees us move to the Upsie NIT Season Tip-Off and a game between another pair of unbeaten teams. The Memphis Tigers come into this season after winning the NIT Championship last season and are off to another strong start at 4-0. The Virginia Tech Hokies have not really been tested yet, but they are still off to a strong 5-0 start to the season.
North Texas Mean Green Vs Kansas Jayhawks – Thursday
Given that Thursday is Thanksgiving Day, and that football takes the focus, it is perhaps not that surprising to see a rather lean schedule on this day. This is, though, a chance to get a look at the #4 ranked Kansas Jayhawks as they take part in the ESPN Events Invitational. The 3-0 Jayhawks should not have any problem taking care of North Texas, but it’s always good to watch the top teams play.
Duke Blue Devils Vs Gonzaga Bulldogs – Friday
You do have to say that if Gonzaga ends this week still sitting at #1, then they will have delivered a warning shot to every team with a legitimate shot at winning a National Championship. A pair of games versus teams in the top 5 in the national rankings is a big week, with both Gonzaga and Duke looking to maintain their perfect start to the season.
