Why Bet The Atlanta Falcons?
The Falcons can score the ball on anyone! Atlanta (4-1 SU, 4-1 ATS) has won four straight games including its hard-fought 23-16 win over Denver last weekend while covering the spread as a 3.5-point underdog. Veteran quarterback Matt Ryan has thrown at least two touchdown passes in five of his last six games and the Falcons are averaging a league-best 35.0 points per game. For the season, Ryan has completed an incendiary 69 percent of his passes for 1,740 yards with 12 touchdowns and just two interceptions while running back Devonta Freeman has rushed for a team-high 410 yards and two scores. As good as Atlanta’s offense has been this season, the Falcons’ defense has been equally abysmal in giving up an overly generous 28.0 points per contest to rank 25th overall. Why Bet The Seattle Seahawks?
The Seahawks are playing at home and have an elite defense! Seattle (3-1 SU, 2-2 ATS) has won two straight games and enters this matchup coming off a bye following their 27-17 Week 4 win over the Jets as a 1-point favorite. Seattle is averaging a modest 19.7 points per game to rank an uninspiring 21st in scoring but are limiting the opposition to just 13.5 points per game defensively to rank third in points allowed. For the season, quarterback Russell Wilson has completed an impressive 65.4 percent of his passes for 1,064 yards with five TD passes and one interception. Wilson has thrown at least two touchdown passes in eight of his last 11 starts. Wide receiver Doug Baldwin and tight end Jimmy Graham have combined for 596 receiving yards and three touchdowns while running back Christine Michael has rushed for a team-high 290 yards and two scores. My Expert Prediction and Pick
The high-scoring Atlanta Falcons got past Denver 23-16 in Week 5 to cover the spread as a slight road dog and I believe they’re the pick to do so again against Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks despite being on the road. I know Seattle is ranked third in points allowed by limiting the opposition to just 13.5 points per game, but Atlanta is ranked first in scoring by putting up a stunning 35.0 points per game. More importantly, the Falcons have a newfound offensive balance and blossoming defense that should allow them to both stay in this Week 6 matchup while pushing the Seahawks for the outright win. The Falcons recorded six sacks against the Broncos this past weekend with linebacker Vic Beasley recording 3.5 sacks all by his lonesome. While Seattle is well-rested after getting a bye in Week 5 following their 27-17 win over the Jets in Week 4, I’m still not completely sold on a Seahawks offense that is averaging a modest 19.7 points per game to rank 21st in scoring. With the Falcons going 4-1 SU and ATS in its last five road games and Seattle going 2-4 ATS in its last six games overall, I say the Falcons cover a point spread that should be loser to a field goal than a touchdown. My Pick: Seattle 28 Atlanta 27MyBookie NFL
