The NFL playoffs are underway, with the Wild Card Round now securely in the rearview mirror.
For the most part, things went as expected, but seeing the 14-win Minnesota Vikings fall at the first hurdle in a blowout loss to the Rams was definitely a bit of a surprise.
Betting Possible Super Bowl Matchups Analysis
Now that those games are over, the Divisional Round is upon us, with the #1 seeds in both conferences coming into it this weekend.
The bracket looks very clear now, as we have a definite path that each team has to take to get to the promised land, but which two teams will make it out of the conferences and into the Super Bowl?

Will the top seeds prevail, or are we going to see another upset or two along the way?
We don’t really know the answer, but we can take a look at the potential Super Bowl matchups, so let’s get to it.
Before we get into the potential Super Bowl matchups, let’s take a look at the current odds for all the remaining teams:
- Detroit Lions +280
- Kansas City Chiefs +340
- Philadelphia Eagles +410
- Baltimore Ravens +460
- Buffalo Bills +530
- LA Rams +1725
- Washington Commanders +2800
- Houston Texans +4900
As you can clearly see, there are some matchups that seem more likely than others, so let’s start with the most probable scenarios and work our way back to the least likely.
^Detroit Lions vs Kansas City Chiefs
When looking at potential Super Bowl matchups, it’s never a bad idea to look at teams that are playoff proven, and there is no team more dominant in the postseason than the Kansas City Chiefs. They are looking for what would be an incredible three-peat, but you do have to say that this version of the Chiefs looks a little less dominant than some of the previous versions.
Still, they always find a way to win. The Lions were in obscurity for years before turning a corner last season and going all the way to the NFC Conference Championship Game, where they eventually lost to the 49ers. They will have learned and grown from that run, so it is not ridiculous to assume that they might go further this season.

Baltimore Ravens vs Philadelphia Eagles
There are some football fans who are of the belief that a dual threat QB is going to have a hard time leading a team to the Super Bowl, but if we get this matchup, then that notion goes out the window. Lamar Jackson is a league MVP who is always able to dominate in the regular season, but who has struggled to get the job done in the postseason. He looked great against the Steelers in the Wild Card Round, so might we be ready to see him turn the corner in the playoffs?
There have been some rumblings out of Philly that fans are not particularly happy with the Eagles offense, yet here they are in the payoffs again, winning games and moving on. This, I believe, would be a fantastic matchup that would be fun to watch, but both teams have a tough path to the Super Bowl.
^Buffalo Bills vs Detroit Lions
While there is certainly a chance that we could see an upset on the NFC side of the bracket, I have a tough time believing that the Lions won’t make it to the championship game. They have been dominant all season long and look solid on both sides of the football, but as we all know, it takes just one bad day to bring a promising season to an end. If the Lions move on, as we expect, it would be great to see them go up against the Buffalo Bills.
Heading into the season, there was a belief that the window of opportunity was closing for the Bills, but they have looked fantastic all season long and are one of only two teams to beat the Chiefs this season. They will need to beat the Ravens and possibly the Chiefs to get to the Super Bowl, but I think they are more than good enough to do so.
^Kansas City Chiefs vs Philadelphia Eagles
We all know how tough it is to beat the Chiefs in general, but having home field throughout the payoffs makes the task much tougher. This is a team that has turned Arrowhead into a fortress where few teams can go and get a result. That, as well as their playoff experience, makes it likely that they will be heading to the Super Bowl once again.
Given the negative press that the Eagles have received this season, the team now looks like a group that has a bit of a chip on their shoulder. They looked very good against the Packers in the Wild Card Round, shutting down a very dangerous offense in the process. If that D continues to shine, they could go all the way.
Now that we have looked at the most likely matchups, let’s go with a couple that seem unlikely, but which would be decent games.
^Houston Texans vs LA Rams
Ast season, the Texans surprised a few people by going to the playoffs and winning a game with a rookie QB. They did not really take the step forward that a lot of people expected from them this season, but here they are winning again.
The Rams finished the season on a great run of form, making them a legit dark horse that no team really wants to face. How cool would it be to see Mathhew Stafford get his hands on the Lombardi Trophy?
^Washington Commanders vs Houston Texans
We said at the top of this piece that there were no major surprises in the Wild Card Round, but the Commanders beating the Buccaneers falls into the mild upset category. The question now is whether they can carry that momentum into a deep playoff run.
I have to say that it would be cool to see two of the best young QBs in the game go head-to-head in the Super Bowl.
