NFL 2021 Odds: Sure Losers Week 12

It’s a great Week 12 in the NFL because of the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday and that we get three games to go with our turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing and gravy. Here are two teams that are sure to lose in Week 12, including one on Turkey Day.

Here’s a quick look at each and from the NFL odds.

Who will be the losers of week 12 NFL?

Bills at Saints (+4.5)

This is the third of the Thanksgiving games, starting at 8:20 PM ET. The Bills were shockingly blown out Sunday at home by Indianapolis but that’s actually why I think Buffalo wins this game. The team has played much better following a loss this season and has not come close to dropping back-to-back games.

Josh Allen wasn’t great vs. Indy, completing 21-of-39 passes for 209 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Allen seemingly struggled with the wind and rain in Buffalo. On top of his two interceptions, he had at least one more would-be interception that hit the ground before the defender could secure it.

The Bills snapped their streak of 18 games leading or tied at halftime – it was the longest streak in the NFL coming into the game Kicker Tyler Bass snapped his streak of 16 consecutive made field goals, also the longest streak in the NFL coming into the game. It was Buffalo’s first November home loss since 2018 vs. Chicago.  Sean McDermott coached in his 74th career game with the Bills, the third highest total in team history passing Chuck Knox.

This team has battled through adversity before and come back from tough losses. Tight end Dawson Knox thinks that playing again on Thursday night will help with that.

V”We’ve seen how resilient we are,” Knox said. “We know that offense, defense, special teams, we got the parts that we need to succeed. You learn a lot from games like this. We’re gonna get right back in the film room and get ready for Thursday, but I think it’s good to have a game coming up quick so we can get that bad taste out of our mouth.”

The Saints were largely dominated 40-29 in Philadelphia on Sunday. Trevor Siemian completed 22-of-40 passes for 214 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions, adding two carries for 16 additional yards and a touchdown. Siemian did nearly all his good work after the Saints entered halftime down 27-7 as 154 of his passing yards and three of his scores came as the Eagles relaxed after the break.

Running back Mark Ingram II rushed the ball 16 times for 88 yards. Ingram also grabbed six catches for 25 yards. He now has 7,942 career total yards from scrimmage as a Saint to rank second in club record books, surpassing wide receiver Eric Martin to move into second. Including his tenures with Baltimore and Houston, Ingram has 9,874 total yards from scrimmage, needing 126 to reach 10,000.

The Saints improved their streak of 313 regular season games without having been shut out, dating to a 26-20 win at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sept. 6, 2002, at Raymond James Stadium.

Browns at Ravens (-4.5)

This is the Sunday night game in Week 12. Cleveland didn’t look great in a 13-10 home win over winless Detroit in Week 11. Baker Mayfield completed just 15-of-29 passes for 176 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Mayfield missed a bunch of throws, and his lone touchdown was an easy five-yard throw to Nick Chubb in the second quarter. Mayfield has 73 and 176 passing yards the last two weeks, barely completing 50% of his passes. He has just one 300-yard game since Week 1.

Chubb was great, rushing 22 times for 130 yards and caught both of his targets for 14 yards and one touchdown. After missing last week with COVID, Chubb returned to handle 22 carries. The receiving score was Chubb’s first of the year, and it was just his third multi-catch game, while the 22 carries matched a season-high. Chubb was the only source of offense for Cleveland on Sunday.

The Browns held their opponents below 20 points on four occasions in 2020. On Sunday, the Browns made it six times out of 11 in 2021. It was necessary, just like it was in Week 7 against Denver and Week 4 in Minnesota, in order for the Browns to come away with a much-needed victory.

Baltimore didn’t have star QB Lamar Jackson due to a non-COVID illness – he will play in this one – but still beat Chicago 16-13. In his first NFL start, Tyler Huntley completed 26-of-36 passes for 219 yards, zero touchdowns and an interception, adding seven carries for 40 additional yards. Huntley did his job, largely avoiding turnovers, making some big plays with his legs, and locking onto top target Mark Andrews with Marquise Brown (thigh) sidelined.

The Ravens‘ defense also overcame being shorthanded. They only dressed three healthy cornerbacks for this game – Marlon Humphrey, Tavon Young, and Chris Westry, and Young was dealing with a sore foot. Defensive tackle Brandon Williams (shoulder) also missed his third straight game.

This is the first meeting of the season between these teams. They play again in Week 14.
