NFL Week 6 Must-Bet Games: Expert Analysis with the Vikings as Championship candidate

It feels as though the new NFL season has just begun, yet here we are already looking at the first coach firing of the season.

Given how things are going for a handful of teams, Robert Saleh of the Jets will not be alone on the unemployment line for very long.

My NFL Betting Analysis in Week 6

With each passing week, and each potential new perceived failure, the seat will get hotter for several coaches.

It has been, to this point, a season that has been more than a little surprising.

Seeing the Chiefs at 5-0 feels like one of the few things we expected, but we also have some preseason favorites struggling to get going, while a dark horse or two, specifically the Minnesota Vikings, suddenly look like a championship candidate.

All of that can change quickly, though, so let’s take it one week at a time, which means picking out some of the standout matchups in Week 6.

TNF San Francisco 49ers -182 at Seattle Seahawks +147

When: Thursday, October 10, 2024, 8:15 PM, Prime Video
Where: Lumen Field, Seattle, WA

Speaking of teams that are not delivering what we expected, the San Francisco 49ers are coming into Week 6 with a losing record at 2-3.

Even with that, they could potentially win this weekend and be back atop the NFC West, which is currently about as tight as it gets.

It is the Seahawks who are currently in the #1 spot in the West with a 3-2 record, but the fact is that no team in this division has looked particularly dominant to this point.

The 49ers are still a team that needs to be considered a threat, but can they get back to .500 on Thursday night?

Jacksonville Jaguars +111 vs Chicago Bears -136

When: Sunday, October 13, 2024, 9:30 AM, NFL Net
Where: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London

While this is not what anyone would call the most glamorous matchup on the Week 6 schedule, it is a game that stands on its own, as it will be an early Sunday game from London, England.

The Jags started this season at 0-4 and looked set to sink like a stone, but they are coming off a win and are suited to these London trips, as they make that journey every single year.

The Bears are last in their division, but they are still a very decent 3-2 with their rookie QB under center.

Caleb Williams has been as advertised this season, and it’s worth tuning into this one just to see him play.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers -141 at New Orleans Saints +115

When: Sunday, October 13, 2024, 1:00 PM, FOX
Where: Caesars Superdome, New Orleans, LA

The expectation prior to the start of the season was that the NFC South was going to be a battle, and it is certainly turning out that way.

You could easily make an argument for 3 of the 4 teams in the South to win the division, so these divisional games are all going to be absolutely huge.

The Bucs lost some ground after a loss to the Falcons last week in a game that was an instant classic.

The Saints looked great through the opening 2 games of the season, but they come into this one having lost 3 in a row and are also looking at an injury to QB Derek Carr.

Keep an eye on how that one plays out.

Washington Commanders +218 at Baltimore Ravens -280

When: Sunday, October 13, 2024, 1:00 PM, CBS
Where: M&T Bank Stadium, Baltimore, MD

When a team decides to start the season with a rookie QB under center, there is an expectation that there are going to be some teething problems, but that has not been the case in Washington.

Jayden Daniels has been absolutely fantastic and is a major part of the reason why the Commanders have won 4 in a row to take control of the NFC East.

He will get a tough test this weekend, though, as he will be on the road to face a Baltimore Ravens team that looks to have turned a corner after getting out to an 0-2 start.

That said, the Ravens were perhaps a little lucky to escape with a win over the Bengals last weekend, so this one has the potential to be an absolute thriller.

Detroit Lions -173 at Dallas Cowboys +141

When: Sunday, October 13, 2024, 4:25 PM, FOX
Where: AT&T Stadium, Arlington, TX

While it may not be ideal to have a bye week so early in the season, the Detroit Lions will be hoping to come in from a week off and get back to the form that saw them win 3 of their opening 4 games of the year.

They are going to have a battle on their hands in the division this season, as the Minnesota Vikings are showing no sign of slowing down, so the Lions could really use the win here to keep pace with the leaders.

The Cowboys escaped a road trip to Pittsburgh with a win, scoring the winning TD with seconds remaining on the clock.

They have now won 2 in a row to get to 3-2, but they are also still trailing the Washington Commanders in the East.

This is pretty much a must-win game for both teams.

MNF Buffalo Bills -143 at New York Jets +117

When: Monday, October 14, 2024, 8:15 PM, ESPN
Where: MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ

The Monday night game is a massive one, as it will have a major impact on the AFC East, which is shaping up to be a tight battle.

The Buffalo Bills jumped out to a fantastic start, winning each of their opening 3 games and looking very good in the process.

They have since lost 2 in a row but have done enough to maintain their top spot.

Things have not looked good for the Jets to this point, with head coach Robert Saleh paying the price for a 2-3 start to the season.

Imagine making the long trip back from London only to be told that you are being relieved of your duties.

I have a feeling that things might get a little worse for the Jets before they get better.
