In Depth Analysis On The Week 9 NFL Free Picks: Eagles At Giants
When: Sunday, November 6, 2016 at 1:00 PM ET Where: MetLife Stadium TV: FOX Live Stream: FOX Sports GO NFL Odds: New York Giants -3 / Over/Under: 44Philadelphia Eagles
Philadelphia Eagles (4-3 SU, 4-3 ATS) has lost three of its last four games and ended up on the wrong end of a crushing 29-23 overtime loss against the Dallas Cowboys last weekend, although the Birds managed to cover the spread as a 5-point underdog. Still, the Birds are quite dangerous as they rank 10th in scoring at 25.5 points per game and a stellar fourth in points allowed to 16.7 points per contest. Rookie quarterback Carson Wentz has been an absolute revelation by completing blistering 65.8 percent of his passes with nine touchdowns and just three interceptions. Veteran running back Ryan Mathews leads the rushing attack with 272 yards and four touchdowns, but I’ve been saying for about a month now that head coach Doug Pederson needs to get elusive running back Darren Sproles more involved, seeing as how he’s rushed for 228 rushing yards while catching 22 passes.New York Giants
New York (4-3 SU, 2-3-2 ATS) has won two straight, but I’m not overly impressed seeing as how those wins came against the mediocre Ravens and Rams. Despite their 17-10 Week 7 win against the Rams, Eli Manning and company clearly have some issues they need to address. New York is ranked an uninspiring 27th in scoring at 19.0 points per game and has the league’s worst rushing attack at just 74.0 yards per game. While Manning is completing an impressive 64.8 percent of his passes with eight touchdowns, he has also tossed six costly interceptions, despite getting sacked just 10 times so far this season. Defense has been New York’s calling card this season as they’ve limited their opponents to 20.1 points per game to rank 10th in points allowed.Expert Prediction and Pick
Philadelphia has a gifted young quarterback in Carson Wentz and the coaching edge with Doug Pederson clearly being further along than New York’s Ben McAdoo. Throw in a bit of desperation for the Birds and a couple of forced turnovers from their aggressive defense and I believe it adds up to an outright win for Philadelphia and an accompanying ATS cover. Philadelphia is 5-1 ATS in its last six games against the Giants and 8-1 ATS in their last nine road dates against the G-Men while New York has gone 2-4 ATS in its last half-dozen home games and just 2-5-2 ATS in their last nine road games overall. I like Philly to win and cover.Pick: Philadelphia 28 NY Giants 24
