If you look at the current NHL standings, there are certainly some surprises to be found, but when you consider that each team has played around 20 games or fewer, you begin to understand that this is only a small sample of the season as a whole.
Things can and will change, with some of the surprise teams sure to fall off, while those out to a slow start might well find their groove.
My Analysis of the NHL Must Bet Games Week 7
All we can do as fans and bettors is take it one week at a time, which is exactly what we are doing here.
We are going to look at the games coming over the next few days and pick out the games that jump off the schedule, so let’s get to it.

Florida Panthers at Winnipeg Jets
Tuesday, November 19, 2024, 8:00 PM, ESPN+
This might well be the best game on the schedule this week, as we have a pair of division leaders going head-to-head. The Florida Panthers are sitting atop the Atlantic Division, albeit by just a single point over the Maple Leafs. They have been in great form recently, going 8-2-0 over the last 10 games, while posting a 6-2-0 record overall on the road.
The Winnipeg Jets came storming out of the gate, positing ridiculous numbers, but they have stumbled a little, losing their last 2 games. They are still 7-3-0 in their last 10 and are 8-1-0 at home.
^Vegas Golden Knights at Toronto Maple Leafs
Wednesday, November 20, 2024, 7:30 PM, ESPN+
The Pacific Division is proving to be a lot tighter than expected in the early going, but it is the Vegas Golden Knights who come into this week with a slender lead at the top. They are, though, coming off a loss, which dropped them to 6-3-1 over their last 10 games.
They have been very good at home and just mediocre on the road, going 3-3-2 in their 8 games played away from home. The Maple Leafs have started well and find themselves just 1 point out of the lead in the Atlantic Division. They have won 2 in a row and are at 8-3-0 on home ice this season.
^Carolina Hurricanes at New Jersey Devils
Thursday, November 21, 2024, 7:00 PM, ESPN+
The battle for supremacy in the Metropolitan Division is alive and well, with just 3 points separating the top 4 teams. The Hurricanes and Devils are tied at 26 points at the top of the division, so we could see a new leader once this week is all said and done.
It is the Hurricanes who have the edge at the moment and who are in form at 8-2-0 in their last 10, while going 6-3-0 overall on the road. The Devils are coming off a loss, but they are still 7-3-0 in their last 10, as well as 4-3-2 at home, so they are beatable on home ice.
^Dallas Stars at Tampa Bay Lightning
Saturday, November 23, 2024, 7:00 PM, ESPN+
The weekend begins with a fantastic matchup between a pair of very good teams. The Stars took a minute to get going, but they are very much rolling now, winning 3 in a row to close out last week, although they are still 8 points back of the high-flying Jets at the top of the division.
Dallas is 4-4-0 on the road, so there is still room for improvement there. Tampa has been a little up and down to start the season, but they closed out last week with back-to-back wins. They have been very good at home, going 6-1-1 in their own building.
