If there has been a disappointment in the NHL betting this season, it has been the overall performance of the Pacific Division. Outside of the Kings, Ducks, and Sharks, the team there have been totally underwhelming. The Calgary Flames in particular have been a big letdown, but it has also been a pretty awful year for the Vancouver Canucks. This is not totally unexpected, as this is a team that has spent the entire year putting all of its hopes on the shoulders of the Sedin twins, who it has to be said are beginning to look a little long in the tooth. The Canucks are now essentially just playing out the season, and have looked totally lackluster coming down the stretch. If they continue to play that way on Friday night, they could well be in trouble against a St. Louis Blues team that looks set to make some noise in the playoffs.

The biggest question being asked of the Canucks (27-33-12) right now is when they are going to score their next goal. They have been shut out in their last 3 games heading into their Thursday night tilt in Nashville. They have now lost 5 games in a row, and have only managed 3 goals during that stretch. We always wondered where the goals were going to come from for this team, but this is getting ridiculous. Oddly enough, Vancouver have saved their best hockey for the road this season, where they are right at the .500 mark. This was a series that the Canucks dominated for a while, but the Blues have wrestled away control, winning both match-ups this season. Vancouver are averaging 2.3 GPG, and are giving up 2.8 GPG.Why Bet on the St. Louis Blues
A win in this one will probably be enough for the St. Louis Blues (43-22-9) to officially clinch a playoff spot. They have some bigger fish to fry, though, as they are just 2 points back of the Dallas Start at the top of the Central Division. You have to like the Blues, and their 21-11-4 home record, in this one, especially since they have already made short work of the Canuck twice this season. St. Louis are 8-2-0 in their last 10 games, and look to be hitting the sort of stride that might well take them deep into the playoffs. This is not a team that scores a ton of goals, but their defense and special teams are more than adequate enough to cover for any offensive misgivings. The Blue are averaging 2.6 GPG, and are giving up 2.4 GPG.Expert Betting Pick and Final Score Prediction
The Canucks are playing like a team that just wants this season to be over, and that is not the way to go into a game against a very good team. I like the Blues to roll to an easy win here. Vancouver Canucks 1 St. Louis Blues 5MyBookie NHL
