Although there haven’t been huge surprises at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics, sports betting fans know of at least two huge surprises.

First, with 9 days to go, the Paris Olympics end on August 11, the United States has only 9 gold medals.

To come close to the 41.5 pre-Olympic gold medal count, the U.S.

is going to have to pick up the pace big time.

China has a decent 12 gold medals while Great Britain, France, and Australia are also looking good to go over their gold medal totals.

  • France 28 : 8 gold, 11 silver, 9 bronze
  • China 26: 12 gold, 7 silver, 7 bronze
  • Great Britain 24: 8 gold, 8 silver, 8 bronze

Most Medals Updated Odds

  • USA -20000

China must make up 13 total medals.

The thing about the Chinese is that they almost always pursue gold, which means as a nation they don’t win a lot of silver and bronze hardware.

Also, the U.S. is about to unleash Sha ’Carri Richardson, Trey Lyles, and the vaunted U.S. track and field squad.

If the Jamaicans don’t upset Lyles, Richardson, and their teammates, the United States should roll to gold, silver, and bronze.

The second choice remains China, which is too good in too many sports not win a few silver and bronze.

Again, most of what the Chinese will win from here are on out will be gold.

China is strong in almost every Olympic sport except track and field.

The United States owns track and field.

So unless Jamaica comes up big, which could happen, but may not if Lyles, especially, is at the top of his game, the United States takes the top gold medals home from Paris.

China will finish second.

The opening gold medal total was 41.5. The total has fallen a full point.

Although the full point appears like a lot, in Olympic terms it’s a gold medal and a half a gold medal, Team USA eclipsing and winning 41 gold medals is asking way too much.

A few of the silvers the Americans won before August 2 had to have been golds for the U.S. to win 41. Again, the hook means a lot.

Even if Lyles, Richardson, and the other athletic stars do their jobs and win gold, the U.S. will be hard pressed to score 41 golds.

They were hard pressed to win 40 before the Olympics began.

So winning 41 is close to impossible.

Australia

Australia is 6 gold medals away from going over.

The Aussies should have no trouble scoring 6 more gold medals because they’ve got strong competitors in enough events, and there are so many events we can barely keep count.

Great Britain must win 9 more gold medals to go over.

The odds on Great Britain going under means money has begun to switch from over to under.

Unlike Australia, Great Britain appear to have as many gold medal contending athletes in the next 9 days.

So going under 16.5 golds is the play.

China and France Gold Medal Betting Update

China-Off

  • Under 34.5 +115

The bet is off because China has 12 gold medals with 9 days to go.

The Chinese should manage 35 gold medals considering the remaining events.

They won’t win as many gold as the Americans, but they will eclipse their total.

If you bet over 3.4.5, you should feel good about your chances.

 

France-Off

  • Over 23.5 -105
  • Under 23.5 -125

France could score enough gold medals to win 24, but it’s going to be difficult.

The bet before was to go over.

But right now, under 23.5 looks like the winning play.

If you took under 23.5, the slight favorite’s play based on payouts, you should cash.
