Olympic Basketball Betting Odds for Men’s Semifinal Games

We are down to the final four in men’s basketball at the 2024 Paris Olympics, with France facing Germany at 11:30 a.m. ET on Thursday, and the United States taking on Serbia at 3 p.m. ET. We break down each matchup with the basketball odds.

Germany’s physicality clearly was an issue for France, especially in the second quarter, the turning point of this game, when they held them to nine points and took a 21-point lead to the break. The game was frankly over at that point.

Franz Wagner had 26 points, shooting 8-of-15 from the field, and 8-of-8 from the free throw line, with 5 rebounds to lead Germany.

Wagner is a bright, young, rising star for the NBA’s Orlando Magic. Veteran NBA guard Dennis Schröder scored 26 points and dished out 9 assists, connecting on three straight decisive passes and five points in the fourth to keep France at bay when the French were trying to make a run.

Germany’s performance improved significantly with Bonga on the court.

France reached the gold medal game at the Tokyo Olympics and that team didn’t have reigning NBA Rookie of the Year Victor Wembanyama, who is competing in his first major senior international tournament alongside reigning NBA Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert.

But with Evan Fournier (31) and Nando De Colo (37) aging, France’s guard play is no longer as strong as it was in 2021.

Despite being underdogs, France beat Canada 82-73. Coach Collet changed his lineup, benching Gobert and Fournier while starting Cordinier and Yabusele.

Yabusele scored 22 points, Cordinier had 20, and Fournier added 12 late points.

Gobert played only three minutes due to a finger injury, but was grateful to compete after recent surgery.

Jokic rested last summer following a long run to the title with the Denver Nuggets.

In a stunning turnaround, the Serbs made Olympic history by coming back from a 24-point deficit to defeat Australia 95-90.

Patty Mills forced overtime with a last-second shot, but Jokic’s dominance led Serbia to victory.

Their aggressive play near the rim resulted in 16 offensive rebounds and a 24-11 edge in second chance points. Doubts about a comeback were acknowledged by Bogdan Bogdanović.

Serbia is aiming for its first Olympic medal since the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro, where it took silver. That was the first Olympics for a then 21-year-old Jokic.

The United States is dominating in the Olympics, with an easy victory over Brazil. Devin Booker scored 18 points, Kevin Durant had 11, surpassing Lisa Leslie as the top U.S. Olympic scorer.

Durant aims for his fourth consecutive gold medal, just like LeBron James, who suffered a minor injury but is okay. The U.S. team is the favorite for another gold medal after blowing out every opponent.

The USA opened group stage play in the Olympics with a 110-84 rout of Serbia. The Americans shot 18-of-32 from deep, compared to Serbia’s 9-of-37.

Durant led the USA with 23 points off the bench, while LeBron had 21. The United States is 3-0 all-time vs. Serbia in the Games.
