Top 2022 MLS Week 7 Matches to Bet On the Weekend

Week seven of the MLS season is upon us and the standings are pretty log jammed at the top of both conferences. With the Philadelphia Union as the only unbeaten team atop the East, the next seven teams are separated by just three points. The top seven spots in the West are separated by just three points after the LA Galaxy knocked off leaders LAFC last week to close the gap to one point.

This week has all 28 teams in action with 12 games on Saturday and two on Sunday. The Galaxy can leapfrog LAFC into first place while the Union look for more separation at the top of the East.  Let’s have a look at the top games for the weekend so you can get all set to bet against the MLS Odds.

MLS Weekend Games Preview | Soccer Betting Analysis

Galaxy Make Statement at Home

The Los Angeles Galaxy asserted themselves as contenders last weekend with a statement win over first place LAFC. Chicharito and Sega Coulibaly scored early in the game and the Galaxy held on for a 2-1 win to take over second place in the Western Conference. Chicharito has five goals in six games this season while both Raheem Edwards and Samuel Grandsir have three assists.

The Galaxy have played well on the road this season with wins in Charlotte and Portland plus a hard-fought 3-2 loss at Seattle. They have scored in every game but one and have only allowed more than one goal in a game once in six contests this season.

The Fire have been in rebuilding mode for years and it is finally starting to pay off. The Fire started the season with three draws and two wins before suffering a 1-0 loss on Saturday at Orlando City. They finished the game with 10 men as Brian Gutierrez was shown red in the 43rd minute and they gave up the only goal of the game in the 59th minute.

The Fire didn’t have much offense at all against Orlando with new DP Xherdan Shaqiri out with a calf injury and captain Rafael Czichos missing his second straight game in the MLS health and safety protocols. Both are questionable for this weekend and the Fire have already played three 0-0 games this season.

MyBookie has the Fire as home favorites at +108. The Galaxy are +225 to keep their form going with all three points and a draw is +255. Under 2.5 goals is +103 while over 2.5 goals is -136.

Union Combine Luck with Skill

Philadelphia remains unbeaten and they picked up three big points against Columbus last weekend thanks to a devastating mistake from Crew goalie Eloy Room. The only goal of the game was knocked into his own net by Room on a cross and Union sure isn’t apologizing for winning 1-0 that way. They remain atop the Eastern Conference and lead all of MLS with 16 points and have allowed just two goals in six games.

This week the Union go on the road and face Toronto FC, fresh off finally getting Mikael Uhre and Julian Carranza on the field at the same time as starters. The two Designated Players started up too in Jim Curtin’s 4-4-2 formation and midfielder Jose Martinez was all over the field doing his thing to control the Crew’s formidable offense. Andre Blake has been magnificent in goal this season with two goals allowed, 17 saves made, and four clean sheets while playing all 540 minutes so far.

Toronto FC is still finding their way under new manager Bob Bradley. After a slow start, they have won or drawn three straight and sit at 2-2-2 through six games with eight points. Last week the Reds drew 2-2 at Real Salt Lake and they have won their last two home games by identical 2-1 scores.

After allowing four goals in game two, Bradley switched from a 4-2-3-1 to a 4-3-4 formation and TFC has allowed two goals or less in all four games since. Bradley has also deployed teenagers in key roles with academy products Jayden Nelson and Kosi Thompson both scoring at Real Salt Lake last week. This week will be a big measuring point for the Toronto rebuild and a test for goalkeeper Alex Bono and the defense.

At MyBookie, the Union are +130 to get all three points on the road and Toronto is +170 to get the home win. A draw is +235 while the total goals are 2.5. Under 2.5 goals is -105 and the over is -126.
