When the Olympic Committee decided to allow professional athletes to take part in the games, there were plenty who objected, but the reality is that it has helped bring more eyes to the Olympic Games.
Tennis is one of the sports that has benefited from pros being part of the tournament, making it one of the most watched and wagered on events every 4 years.
My Analysis
We are getting deep into the tournament on both the men’s and women’s side of things, but which athletes will walk away with the medals when all is said and done?
That is what we are going to try and figure out here, so let’s take a look at the progress in both tournaments as we try to pick some winners.
^Men’s Olympic Tennis
At the top of the bracket, one of the quarterfinals has already been set.
Novak Djokovic, who many consider to be a lock for the gold medal has made it to this point without breaking too much of a sweat.
He overcame that one to win the next 2 matches without dropping a set.
It will be either Alexander Zverev or Alexei Poyrin moving on to the quarterfinals.
They already know who they will face, as Lorenzo Musetti has already punched his ticket into the next round.
There is a similar scenario in the bottom half of the bracket, with one of the quarterfinals already set, while two games played today will decide who else is moving on.
Caper Ruud and Francisco Cerundolo will meet in one of those games, while Felix Auger-Aliassime will face Danil Medvedev, with the winners of those games meeting up in the quarters.
The matchup that has already been decided will see Carlos Alcaraz and Tommy Paul, both of whom have been brilliant, meeting up.

Women’s Olympic Tennis
Over on the women’s side of things, the quarterfinals are taking place as I write this piece.
Danielle Collins has had to scrap to get to this stage of the tournament and will have another tough matchup against Iga Swiatek, who is yet to drop a set on her way to this point in the tournament.
The winner of that one will go up against either Angelique Kerber or Qinwen Zheng, who are tied up at one set apiece at the time of writing.
We figured that one would be a battle, as both women are considered a good pick to be on the medal podium.
In the bottom half of the draw, we already know one of the women who will be in the semi-final and one step closer to the gold medal, with Anna Karolina Schmiedlova taking out Barbora Krejcikova in straight sets.
She is now waiting to see who he will face in the semi-finals, with Marta Kostyuk and Donna Vekic set to meet later today.

Bravissimo l’azzurro a raddrizzare il primo set dopo un avvio difficile e a chiudere poi 7-5 un secondo parziale molto lottato.
