Rugby League Betting Odds Top Games in Round 11

While we put much of our focus on the major sports leagues and events across the world, we also like to look at other leagues that you may not know that much about.

This time, we are shining the spotlight on rugby, and specifically the Top Games for Round 11 of the National Rugby League (NRL) in Australia.

My Analysis

The league is comprised of 17 teams, the top 8 of which move into a 4-week tournament that sees a pair of teams eliminated each week until we get down to the final 2 teams and the Grand Final. During the regular season, teams earn 2 points per win, 1 for a tie, and 2 points for a bye. The playoffs are a little more complex, but we will get into all of that at a later date. This weekend we have the Magic Round, where we have 8 games in the same venue, with Brisbane playing host this year.

Raiders +140 vs Bulldogs -159

Through the opening 10 rounds of the season, there is not much between the teams down near the cut line and those sitting below it. This game is huge in that it will have a definite impact on how the standings look once the Magic Round is over. The Raiders are in the #7 spot right now with 12 points through their opening 9 games, but they would love a little more breathing room. They could get that with a win here, with the Bulldogs down in the #9 spot, 2 points back of Canberra. With each team playing 24 games, there is still a lot of rugby to come, but this is still a vitally important game for both teams.

Manly Sea Eagles +194 vs Brisbane Broncos -233

This matchup is similar to the previous game we just discussed, as it too will have an impact on how the top 8 will look after this weekend. The Sea Eagles are clinging to the #8 spot at the moment, picking up 11 points through 10 games. While they have been good at home, winning 4 of 5, they have just 1 win in 4 away from their own building. The Broncos will have the advantage of playing in front of their own fans in the Magic Round, as they look to improve on their current 6th place standing, picking up 12 points though 10 games. They have won 4 of 5 at home, as well as 4 of their last 5 overall, so form seems to be on their side.

Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks +139 vs Sydney Roosters -167

While the focus on the previous 2 games has been about the cut line, this matchup is all about the top of the NRL table. Heading into the Magic Round, it is the Sharks who are atop the standings, picking up 18 points from 9 games. They have won each of their last 5 games and are rolling at the moment, but this is by no means a slam sunk for them, especially since their lone loss came away from home. The Roosters would like to close the gap, as they are on 12 points through 10 games. They have been very good of late and have won 4 of their last 5, so expect an exciting battle in this matchup.
