CFL Week 7 Betting Preview

CFL Week 7 presents a couple of great matchups as the Ottawa RedBlacks battle the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the Calgary Stampeders take on the Saskatchewan Rough Riders. Both should offer interesting betting opportunities for CFL handicappers. The other two games in Week 7 has the Edmonton Eskimos up against the Montreal Alouettes and the Toronto Argonauts heading to Winnipeg as a +11 road dog. Edmonton Eskimos Off at Montreal Alouettes Off

Once betting lines are set, Edmonton will be favored over Montreal. Should they be, though? It’s a legitimate question because the Eskimos are only 1 and 4 against the spread this season. Montreal is 2-2 against the spread. The Alouettes were exceptional in their last game. Sure, Calgary beat them 25 to 9. But, think about this, the Montreal Alouettes were a huge 19.5 dog versus Calgary. Montreal played the Stampeders, the best team in CFL, tough. Montreal’s lone win this season was versus Saskatchewan. They’re playing well enough versus tough teams to pull off their second victory. Toronto Argonauts +11 at Winnipeg Blue Bombers -11

Why are the Winnipeg Blue Bombers at -11 versus the Toronto Argonauts on Friday? The Blue Bombers are 2 and 0 against the spread in 2 home games this season. One of the wins ATS was a 41 to 19 beat down of the BC Lions as a -6.5 favorite on July 7. Toronto has a ton of injuries. Not only that, but Winnipeg easily handled the Argonauts on July 21. As a +3.5 home dog, the Argos lost 20 to 38 to the Blue Bombers. That’s 18 points. So far, 50% favor the Argonauts while an even 50% are willing to lay the 11 points in this game. Ottawa RedBlacks +4 at Hamilton Tiger-Cats -4

The Ottawa RedBlacks are 1 and 1 against the spread on the road this season. The RedBlacks have gone 0 and 2 ATS in their last 2. One of the games where they went 0 and 2 was versus the BC Lions. At home, as a -6.5 favorite, Ottawa wasn’t supposed to allow BC to only lose by 4 points, 25 to 29. That’s what happened. Hamilton does ride a two game losing streak into this battle with Ottawa, though. This game should be close, which means taking the points is necessary. The Ottawa RedBlacks are the play. Calgary Stampeders -7 at Saskatchewan Rough Riders +7

Undefeated Calgary took a slight step back in their 25 to 9 win over the Montreal Alouettes in Week 6. Calgary was favored by 19.5 points. They managed to not cover the spread. But, it was Calgary’s first non-cover of the season. Does that mean the Stampeders come out guns blazing on Saturday? It sure does. Calgary should easily handle Saskatchewan on July 28.
