There are three games left in the CFL’s regular season. Unfortunately, for anyone who loves the drama of the last week of the playoff race, every game has already been decided. In the case of the defending Grey Cup champion Toronto Argonauts, their playoff seed has already long since been decided.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers at Calgary Stampeders

The Blue Bombers have been playing good football recently. Winnipeg has picked up three consecutive wins and cemented itself as the top team in the West Division when it beat B.C. 34-26 in overtime on Oct. 6 on the road. The Blue Bombers also don’t have to worry about this game being a case where Calgary is desperate to fight into the postseason.

Thanks to Saskatchewan losing last week, the Stampeders’ 41-16 upset win over the Lions means that Calgary’s consecutive playoff streak has stretched back to 2005. The Stampeders have won two straight games to get into the postseason. Calgary may want to play some of its starters to keep the momentum going into another matchup with the Lions in the West Division semifinal.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Montreal Alouettes

The Tiger-Cats need to build some positive momentum. Levi Mitchell threw for two touchdown passes and 135 yards during their loss last week.

Hamilton has struggled against Montreal this season. In the two team’s losses to the Alouettes this season, the Tiger-Cats have only scored a combined 26 points. Montreal has been one of the hottest teams in the league. The Alouettes have won four straight games while holding their opponents to 15 points or fewer in three of those victories.

Toronto Argonauts at Ottawa Redblacks

The Argonauts are the defending Grey Cup champions and have looked significantly better this season than they did last year. Toronto cruised through the regular season, compiling a 15-2 record and winning the division by five games. However, the Argonauts may not want to fully rest against Ottawa.

The East Division was the weaker of the two divisions, so Toronto wasn’t tested in the way the best teams in the West Division were. The Argonauts lead the league in scoring, having put up 564 points so far this season. Toronto is also undefeated at home.

The Redblacks fell out of the playoff race a long time ago. Ottawa had to rely on CFL newcomer Dustin Crum at quarterback. While he had a few strong moments, overall, the Redblacks’ quarterback struggled to make enough plays. Ottawa has lost three consecutive games this season.
