If you’re a film betting buff that loves entertainment betting and you just can’t get enough of the Oscars, then let’s get down to business.

2019 Academy Awards Odds & Predictions

  • When: Sunday, February 24, 2019. 8:00 PM ET
  • Where: Dolby Theatre, Los Angeles, California.
  • TV: ABC
  • Live Stream: The Oscars Live

Best Motion Picture

  • Roma -140
  • The Green Book +330
  • The Favourite +700
  • A Star Is Born +1000
  • BLACKKKLANSMAN +1200
  • Black Panther +1800
  • Bohemian Rhapsody +2000
  • Vice +5000

Roma

While Roma is the prohibitive favorite the win Best Motion Picture, you should know that he track record of foreign language films winning Best Picture lineup isn’t great. This film about a year in the life of a middle class family’s maid in Mexico City in the early 1970s won raves for its  use of black-and-white cinematography and its personal narrative.

Green Book

A Green Book was widely lauded in 2018 and rightfully so. This flick about a working-class Italian-American bouncer who becomes the driver of an African-American classical pianist on a tour of venues through the 1960s American South is nothing short of spellbinding. Green Book took home the Toronto Film festival’s coveted People’s Choice Award and also won Best Film from NBR. The No. 2 pick on the board looks tough to beat in my opinion.

A Star is Born

This film about a musician that helps a young singer find fame despite his own bouts with alcoholism, has raked in $202.2 million domestically, which is the twelfth-highest total of the year so far. The flim also got a record-tying four wins at NBR, a spot on the AFI’s top 10 list, five Golden Globe nominations and nine Critics’ Choice Award nominations.

BLACKkKlansman

BlacKkKlansman is Spike Lee’s first film to ever get nominated for an Oscar. While this film almost assuredly won’t win the Best Motion Picture award, I am expecting BlackKlansman to take home t least one Oscar in another category.

Analysis: I’m going with Green Book for the win everyone! Mahershala Ali just won the Screen Actor’s Guild award for best supporting actor and I believe he’s a virtual lock to win that award here as well.

“I’m grateful to be among this fraternity of artists who deal with the human condition and try to do that responsibly,” Ali said recently. “To my wife and daughter, and to Peter Farrelly, I sincerely appreciate the opportunity.”

Roma might be favored here, but since it’s a foreign language film, I’m expecting it to take a slight backseat to Green Book with American Ocsars voters.

2019 Academy Awards Odds Pick: Green Book

Best Actor

  • Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody) -120
  • Christian Bale (Vice) +100
  • Bradley Cooper (A Star Is Born) +800
  • Viggo Mortensen (Green Book) +2000
  • Williem Dafoe (At Eternity’s Gate) +3500

Analysis: Rami Malek is a virtual lock to win this award for his stunning portrayal of legendary rocker Freddie Mercury. If you havn’t see Boehemian Rhapsody…it’s a must – and Malek is close to a lock here, although I suspect Viggo Mortensen and Christian Bale will garner their share of votes based on simply being more familiar names.

2019 Academy Awards Odds Pick: Rami Malek

Best Actress

  • Glenn Close (The Wife) -400
  • Olivia Colman (The Favourite) +400
  • Lady Gaga (A Star Is Born) +750
  • Yalitza Aparicio (Roma) +2800
  • Meliss McCarthy (Can You Forgive Me?) +3300

Analysis: Glenn Close is more of a lock to win this award than Rami Malek is to win the Best Actor award. Close was nothing short of phenomenal in her role as Joan Castleman, the wife of an accomplished writer. The Wife is a thought-provking, tear-jerker of a film that just made the already widely-acclaimed actress even more popular with her legion of fans. Drop the -$400 for the win!

2019 Academy Awards Pick: Glenn Close
