Has Tom Hardy become a better play than James Norton?

For a while it appeared that Norton was a lock. The Happy Valley and McMafia actor has the look and acting chops to pull off one of the most difficult thespian jobs on the planet. He’s also fairly athletic, which means if he were to become Bond, he’d possibly do many of his own stunts.

But Norton is currently filming The Nevers, a sci-fi show set in Victorian England. If the show gets picked up for two or more seasons, will that turn off the Bond folks?

Norton shooting The Nevers could explain why odds on Tom Hardy have dropped to the point where the Oscar nominated actor is a co-favorite. Hardy isn’t afraid to play pop culture characters. In 2020, Hardy was the most famous gangster in history in Capone.

He’s also Eddie Brock in Venom. The second Venom film is in post-production. It should release next year some time depending on how the pandemic goes. There’s a good chance that because Tom is set on doing movies in the future, and not take a television show job, he gets the call to become the next James Bond before Norton.

Which actor has a better shot at saying, “Shaken not stirred?” Idris Elba, Sam Heughan, or Richard Madden?

Elba remains a strong candidate to become the first black James Bond. Also, Idris is one of the world’s great actors. Sam Heughan remains a possibility, but the actor that’s gotten the most buzz is Richard Madden.

The 34-year-old Scotsman is best known for playing Robb Stark in Game of Thrones. He won a Golden Globe in 2018 for playing PS David Budd in the Netflix hit The Bodyguard. Madden’s star is on the rise, which is one of the reasons he’s become one of the faves to play Bond.

Elba remains a solid bet. Madden is a better play than Heughan, though. Also, wouldn’t it be cool to have another Scot play Bond? Especially since the best 007 in history, Sean Connery, was Scottish.

Among A-list actors Christian Bale and Benedict Cumberbatch, which actor would Bond producers consider?

Those who run the Bond franchise are likely to jump at the chance to cast Bale or Cumberbatch. Only one figures to go for the role, though.

Benedict Cumberbatch is just as happy playing a Shakespeare character on the London Stage as he is playing Sherlock Holmes or Kahn in a Star Trek film. He most likely won’t play Bond, though, even if he’s a terrific Doctor Strange.

Of the two thespians, Christian Bale is more likely to accept the Bond role. Bale already played Batman. So, the detective skills are there. All kidding aside, Christian has jumped at glossy, Hollywood roles in the past. So there’s no reason for him to turn down the 007 folks if they call.
