2020 BAFTA Awards

2020 BAFTA Television Awards Odds

Best Actor

  • Jared Harris (Chernobyl) -450
  • Callum Turner (The Capture) +600
  • Stephen Graham (The Virtues) +1100
  • Takehiro Hira (Giri/Haji) +1600

Takehiro Hira is fantastic in Giri/Haji. But huge upsets like Hira winning doesn’t often happen. Jared Harris seems like a lock. He’s not. Stephen Graham has a real shot to grab the hardware for The Virtues. Not only that, but he’s an excellent actor that most people don’t know. We’re taking a chance on Stephen.

2020 BAFTA Pick: Stephen Graham

Best Actress

  • Jodie Comer (Killing Eve) -250
  • Samantha Morton (I Am Kirsty) +250
  • Suranne Jones (Gentleman Jack) +800
  • Glenda Jackson (Elizabeth Is Missing) +1000

Jodie’s a shoo-in, right? Have you seen Killing Eve? She provides one of the greatest women villain performances in media history. So, we wouldn’t be surprised if Jodie takes home another trophy. Glenda Jackson should win. The odds say she won’t. We’re taking a stab on the British acting legend.

2020 BAFTA Pick: Glenda Jackson

Best Supporting Actor

  • Josh O’Connor (The Crown) -110
  • Stellan Skarsgard (Chernobyl) +130
  • Joe Absolom (A Confession) +750
  • Will Sharpe (Giri/Haji) +1000

The money here is on Stellan Skarsgard. Chernobyl was a fantastic mini-series and he’s great in it. Will Sharpe is awesome in Giri/Haji. So, if you’re debating between Sharpe and Absolom, Sharpe is probably a better choice.

2020 BAFTA Pick: Stellan Skarsgard

Best Supporting Actress

  • Helena Bonham Carter (The Crown) -110
  • Jasmine Jobson (Top Boy) +350
  • Helen Behan (The Virtues) +600
  • Naomi Ackie (The End of The F***ing World) +1000

How many awards should we give Helena Bonham Carter? Doesn’t she have a room full of them? Sure, she’s great on The Crown. But she’s great in everything. Jasmine Jobson provides an electrifying performance in Top Boy. So, that’s where we’re going.

2020 BAFTA Pick: Top Boy

Best Drama Series

  • The Crown -650
  • Gentleman Jack +400
  • The End of The F***ing World +1000
  • Giri/Haji +1400

The Crown will probably win. But, again, why take short odds on an entertainment proposition? Gentleman Jack’s odds should be shorter than +400 to beat The Crown. First, it will steal a lot of Crown votes. Second, the story is sort of like Downton Abbey if Lord Grantham was a badass woman.

2020 BAFTA Pick: Gentleman Jack

Best Mini-Series

  • Chernobyl -2000
  • The Virtues +650
  • The Victim +1000
  • A Confession +1500

The Virtues deserves it. The last time we saw a close to -2000 upset in on an entertainment show, though, was when Adrien Brody won Best Actor for The Pianist, beating out Daniel-Day Lewis for Gangs of New York. Chernobyl wins.

2020 BAFTA Pick: Chernobyl
