2020 Grand Prix Of Europe Expert Analysis – MotoGP Betting

Written by on November 5, 2020

For most of the season, we have been talking abut how tight the race is as the top of the MotoGP standings. Now, with just 3 races left to run, it’s as tight as ever, with no clear favorite emerging at this time. There are still several riders in with a shot at winning the World Championship, but things might become a little clearer this weekend in Spain and the European Grand Prix. The margin for error among those who still have a shot to win it all is about as slim as it gets, so expect the pressure to continue to grow over the final few weeks. Let’s take a look at the current top 4 and how their form might come into play this weekend so you can place your bets against their MotoGP odds.

MotoGP Betting Analysis for the 2020 European GP

Joan Mir

You have to say that things did not look good for Mir in the early going, as he was forced to retire in 2 of the first 3 races of the season. Since then, though, the Spaniard has been about as consistent as it gets, landing on the podium in 6 races. That has been enough to get Mir to the top of the standings, but it is a tenuous lead when you consider that he has yet to win a race this season. He has a pair of 2nd place finishes and two 3rd place finishes in his last 5 races, so he is certainly knocking on the door, maintaining that type of form through the final 3 races might just be enough.

Fabio Quartararo

A few weeks ago, it was Quartararo who looked like the favorite to go on and win it all, but he has been steadily losing ground. The Frenchman had 3 wins out of the first 8 races of the year, a run that had him looking comfortable at the top. Since his last win, though, his best finish in the last 3 races has been 8th. That poor run of form allowed Mir to chip away at the lead and eventually leapfrog Quartararo. Fabio is now running out of time and needs to get back to his early season form if he is to regain the lead.

Maverick Vinales

There are now a pair of Spanish racers in the top 3 as we head into the final few weeks of the season. Many great riders have come out of Spain, but you could also argue that the number of races run in that country this season has helped the homegrown riders, Whatever the case, Vinales is still in the hunt, but much like Quartararo, he needs to be riding better than he has been these past few races. Vinales has one win on the season, but since picking that one up, he has cracked the top 5 just once in the 4 races following that victory.

Franco Morbidelli

He might be leaving it late, but Franco Morbidelli is creeping up on the pack. He has had a trio of races this season where he was forced to retire, which has hurt him, but you need only look at what Mir has done to show that those races may not end up having a huge impact. Morbidelli won last weekend, his second win of the season, to get into the top 4, and his recent form has been good. He is a longshot to win it all, but he cannot be counted out.
