Clippers vs Warriors 2020 NBA Game Preview & Betting Odds

Clippers vs Warriors Season Series

This is the third of four regular season meetings between the two teams. The Clippers lead the season series, 2-0, with wins at Chase Center on October 24, opening night (141-122) and at Staples Center on January 10 (109-100). With a win Tuesday, it would mark the first time the Clippers won three straight meetings against the Warriors since they won seven consecutive matchups (Nov. 6, 2004 to Jan. 23, 2006). The last time the Clippers won three games against the Warriors in a season was in 2005-06 (3-1), also marking the last time they won a regular season series versus Golden State. Those 141 points in the opener were the most Golden State has allowed in the history of the series (previous: 139 points, twice).

Why Bet on LA Clippers?

The Clippers had a six-game winning streak snapped Sunday in a 112-103 home loss to the Lakers. LeBron James was the best player on the floor with 28 points, nine assists and seven rebounds. Anthony Davis scored 30 points and Avery Bradley added 24.

With the Lakers up by four points, James hit a 3-pointer to open the fourth. His 3-point play and a basket by Davis capped a 14-6 run that pushed it to 99-87, their first double-digit lead of the game. The Clippers led by four at halftime but finished with more turnovers (15) than assists (12). They fell to 10-1 in games when their entire roster is healthy.

Kawhi Leonard scored 27 points with two rebounds, one block, one turnover and no assists in 37 minutes. It was Kawhi’s first game without any assists this year.  Leonard ranks eighth in the NBA in ppg (26.9) and is fifth in steals (1.8).

Paul George made 9-of-16 from the field for 31 points with six rebounds.  Marcus Morris went 0-of-9 from the field and 1-of-2 from the line for one point in the loss. Morris is struggling a bit right now. In his previous 10 games, he had scored just 10.4 points per. Overall, he is averaging career-high in points (19.6), three-pointers made (2.7) and three-point field goal percentage (43.9).

The Clippers are 12-1 this season when they make at least 15 three-pointers. The Clippers have 26 games this season where they have scored 120+ points which ranks tied for third in the NBA. The Clippers are 16-3 this season following a loss which is the third-best record in the NBA. The Clippers have only lost back-to-back games three times this season which is the second-fewest in the NBA.

Why Bet on Golden State?

Golden State beat the visiting 76ers on Saturday 118-114 and has been much more competitive in the two games since Steph Curry returned from a broken hand. He didn’t play on Saturday, though, due to flu-like symptoms. The team said that Curry is not at specific risk for COVID-19 or coronavirus. He’s questionable for this game, so that’s why there was no early spread. Curry is five 3-pointers shy of 2,500 career – only Ray Allen and Reggie Miller have made over 2,500 career 3-pointers in NBA history.

If Curry is out again, Mychal Mulder could get another start. Mulder scored a career-high 18 points Saturday. This season the Warriors have used 33 different starting lineups – it’s the most since a franchise record-high 49 in 2009-10 (starters were first tracked in 1970-71). The 33 different starting lineups are the sixth-most used in a single season. Draymond Green was out as well with a knee injury and it’s possible the team just shuts him down for the year. Kevon Looney (hip) is out at least another three weeks.

Eric Paschall scored 23 points, including a pair of free throws with 51.7 seconds remaining, as the Warriors snapped a 10-game home losing streak with Saturday’s win. Golden State won at Chase Center for the first time since Jan. 18. After Paschall made his two free throws, the Sixers missed three consecutive shots, including a 32-foot jumper by Shake Milton. Paschall has scored 10-or-more points in each of the last 10 games (17.5 ppg, .595 FG%) and has tallied 20-or-more points in four of the last six games (21.0 ppg in that span).

Damion Lee scored 24 points on 10-of-17 shooting with six rebounds. Lee was the biggest beneficiary of Curry being out. Lee routinely brought the ball up the floor and ran the offense for the Warriors.  Marquese Chriss fell just shy of his first career triple-double on Saturday, scoring 13 points on 6-of-9 shooting with 10 rebounds and a career-high eight assists.
