Indiana leads 2-1 and this will be the last meeting between them. The Pacers won the most recent game 122-102 at home on Dec. 8. Chris Duarte scored 23 points and Myles Turner had 22. Duarte, a rookie shooting guard, had 14 points in the first quarter, when the Pacers seized control with a 15-2 run. Indiana outscored New York in each of the first three quarters to lead 96-76 and maintained a double-digit lead from midway through the second quarter until the final buzzer. Each of the Pacers starters scored in double figures, with Malcolm Brogdon getting 16 points and Caris LeVert 15. Duarte and LeVert each had six assists. Domantas Sabonis had 21 points and 11 rebounds. RJ Barrett led the Knicks with 19 points. Julius Randle had 18 points and eight rebounds.

Why Bet on Indiana?

Indiana lost its fourth straight game Sunday, 108-104 in Cleveland. The Cavs trailed 84-73 in the third quarter before going on a 17-0 run to take the lead for good. Pacers rookie Duane Washington drained a 3-pointer with eight seconds left to pull Indiana within 3 at 107-104, but Brandon Goodwin split a pair of free throws to restore the Cavaliers’ two-possession lead. Cleveland made 7 of 12 foul shots in the fourth quarter.

Washington scored a career-high 20 points on 8-of-17 shooting. Washington had the best game of his young career in another start with Chris Duarte (protocols) again unavailable on Sunday. If Duarte remains on the inactive list for Tuesday’s matchup with New York, he could get another start. Washington played 11 games in the NBA G League this season and is the Mad Ants’ leading scorer with 19.5 points per game.

Fellow rookie Keifer Sykes finished with a career-high 10 points, five assists, and a +7 rating after playing for 35:04. Sykes did well on the defensive end, playing with intense energy throughout the game.

Domantas Sabonis scored 32 points to go with 13 rebounds and seven assists. Sabonis had a huge third quarter on Sunday, that included 16 points on 5-of-6 shooting with four rebounds, and three triples. He also tallied his fourth straight double-double, which he had done by the end of the third quarter. Lance Stephenson finished with six points and three assists in 12:34 of playing time in his first action with the Pacers since 2018.

Before Sunday’s game, Caris LeVert entered the league’s health and safety protocols. The Pacers already are without Malcolm Brogdon, Jeremy Lamb and Duarte for the same reason.

Indiana has lost two straight at Madison Square Garden with its last win at MSG coming nearly one year ago (Feb. 21, 2020). Myles Turner is averaging 16.7 points and 2.3 blocks in three games against the Knicks this season. He has finished with more than 20 points twice.

Why Bet on New York?

New York lost its second in a row Sunday, 120-105 at the Raptors playing without Kemba Walker, Julius Randle, and Derrick Rose for various reasons. The Knicks’ lone lead was 5-4 with 10:23 left in the first quarter.

Evan Fournier shot 6-of-14 from the field and 4-of-4 from the foul line for 20 points. Fournier, who has been struggling with a sore ankle recently, hit the 20-point mark for the first time since December 21 (22 points vs. Detroit).  Starting for Mitchell Robinson, Taj Gibson had five points and seven rebounds. With Robinson, Nerlens Noel, and Jericho Sims all in the league’s health and safety protocols, Gibson is effectively the Knicks’ only active center.

Obi Toppin shot 7-of-12 from the field and 4-of-4 from the foul line for 19 points with six rebounds. He saw time at both center and forward with the Knicks short-handed. Robinson has cleared the health & safety protocols and has rejoined the team in New York. It’s unclear if Robinson registered a false positive or not, but he only spent two days in COVID-19 protocols. However, Noel has been sidelined since Dec. 22 and will not play Tuesday.

Depending on the latest COVID-19 test results, New York may still be without their All-Star in Randle (19.3 points, 10 rebounds, five assists per game) again Tuesday. Rose is out likely until late February following surgery on his right ankle, and Walker is out indefinitely with a sore left knee after aggravating the surgically repaired knee in warmups Friday.

When the Knicks make 15 or more three-pointers in a game they are 10-5. When Fournier hits four or more three-pointers, the Knicks are 8-2 and 9-2 when he scores at least 18 points. When Barrett makes six or more FGs the Knicks are 6-4. When the Knicks score 110 points or more they are 7-3.

New York made a trade on Monday, landing Denzel Valentine from the Lakers in a three-team deal. To clear space for Valentine, the Knicks waived guard Wayne Selden, who had appeared in three games this season. Valentine is going to be waived as well.
