Over the past few seasons, the conference races in the East and West have essentially been a foregone conclusion, with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors making a habit of landing on top. The constant NBA odds favorite Cavaliers have had a habit of making things look tougher than they need to be in the regular season before stepping up a couple of gears and destroying everyone in their path in the playoffs. They are following a very similar pattern again this season, although their current 3rd place standing in the Eastern Conference is certainly lower than where we are used to seeing them at this stage of the season. Another big test is coming for the Cavaliers on Thursday night, as they will cross the border into Canada to face a Toronto Raptors team that is in the #2 spot in the Eastern Conference, and who are on a very good run of form at the moment. This will be the first meeting between these two this season, and it’s a match-up that the Cavaliers dominated last year, which may be why they are coming into this one as a slight favorite in the NBA lines.
