San Antonio At Utah NBA Expert Predictions

For the most part, the Western Conference appears to be totally locked down for the playoffs, which makes the final day of the season one that will not really be filled with a whole lot of drama. That’s not to say that there aren’t some good games on the calendar, though, and one of the best may well be the one that sees the San Antonio Spurs go on the road to face the Utah Jazz. The Spurs have the #2 seed all locked up, and will start their postseason run with a series versus the Memphis Grizzlies. The Jazz look set to finish in the #5 spot, which would mean a first round meeting with the suddenly very hot LA Clippers. Neither team really has anything to prove at this point, but don’t tell that to Gregg Popovic, the coach of the Spurs, as he has been less than impressed with the play of his team coming down the stretch. Look for the Spurs to try and appease him by finishing the regular season with a strong showing. Find out more about the latest NBA betting lines here.

Why bet on the San Antonio Spurs

There are a lot of teams who would be quite happy to have won 6 of their last 10 games, but that does not apply to the San Antonio Spurs (61-20). This team has been so consistently good all season long that such a mark is considered to be a sign of a slump. Popovich has taken to the press to talk about his displeasure with those recent performances, going so far as to say that none of his key players will be getting a rest day prior to the playoffs. I expect them to raise their game for this one, and it certainly helps that they are playing the Jazz, a team they are 6-1 against in their last 7 meetings. If the Spurs win, they will go 31-10 on the road this season, the same as their home record.

Why bet on the Utah Jazz

The Utah Jazz (50-31) are finishing the season strong, winning 7 of their last 10 games to secure at least the #5 seed. This is a team that has to be considered a little bit of a dark horse, especially since they are in possession of the best defensive record in the league. They are giving up just 96.8 PPG this season, and are one of only two teams to be giving up less than 100 PPG (the San Antonio Spurs are the other team). The problem that the Jazz have heading into this one is that they just don’t seem able to beat the Spurs on a consistent basis. They were swept by them last year, and have lost 2 of 3 this season.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

I like the Spurs to put a bit of an exclamation point on their season with a final win on the road. They always seem to respond well when they are called out by their coach.
