NBA Trade Rumors Deadline Guide For January 17

The NBA season is now beyond the midway point, with new stories and rumors arriving on a daily basis. Given that we are heading toward the trade deadline, which will hit on February 7, most of the headlines are being dominated by potential moves that each team might make. Some will be looking to load up in preparation for a playoff run, while others will be dumping salaries as they head into a rebuild. We will, of course, address some of the potential trade rumors, but there are also some other stories to get into, so let’s take a quick look at the latest news and rumors for your NBA betting.

A Return for Giannis

The news out of Milwaukee is that Giannis Antetokounmpo is not suffering from any sort of major knee injury. The team are saying that they are simply being cautious with their star player, who has now missed each of the last 3 games, a run that saw the Bucks go 1-2. Given their current position in the East, there really is no need to rush the big man back and risk further injury. The talk is that he may be back on Tuesday night versus the Raptors, but we will have to wait and see.

Suspensions for 2 Rockets Players

Losing 15 of your last 16 games is bad enough but getting into a scuffle that ends with a pair of players getting a suspension might even be worse. Things got decidedly chippy when the Rockets and Kings met a few days back, with a scuffle happening after a battle for a loose ball. The biggest culprits were Jalen Green and Jae’Sean Tate, both of whom received a single game suspension for leaving the bench to get involved in the scuffle. They served their suspension against the LA Clippers, which ended in a loss for the Rockets.

Nuggets and Mavericks in for Noel

Sometimes, trade rumors are really nothing more than stories to fill space in the sports section. In the case of Nerlens Noel, though, there seems to be some real validity to the rumors that he will be on the move out of Detroit before the deadline. The Nuggets and Mavericks appear to be the most interested in acquiring Noel, although there is no guarantee that they will be able to land him before the deadline passes. Noel has said he will not accept a buyout, so the Pistons may wait until the summer and try to shop him then. We’ll be keeping an eye on how this all plays out.

Bye Bye for Bey?

It has been another disastrous year for the Detroit Pistons, who look ready to make some moves to get in some fresh blood. One name that is frequently being mentioned in trade talks is Saddiq Bey, who is not having a particularly great season and has spent time on the bench. There are some who seem convinced that the Pistons want to hold onto their 3rd year player, but there are also rumors that they would be willing to part with him if the right deal came along. Whether that means a move at the trade deadline remains to be seen, but word id that several teams have been monitoring the Bey situation.
