We are steaming toward the Madness as just one weekend remains before Selection Sunday. Friday’s slate provides both regular season finales as well as conference tournament matchups, making it a tremendous opportunity to place a lot of wagers.
Here are a couple of college basketball betting matchups to take a hard look at.
Exciting College Betting Opportunities for March 3rd
Eastern Michigan Eagles (+7) at Northern Illinois Huskies
This is certainly not the most intriguing matchup of the day, as neither team is above .500 on the season, but there are trends here that need to be taken advantage of. Earlier in the season, the Eagles were an auto fade despite having some star power in the former top recruit in the nation, Emoni Bates. Fellow transfer Tyson Acuff and Noah Farrakhan also provide nice secondary scorers as both average double figures on the season.
As of late, Eastern Michigan has turned it on in terms of covering the spread while not actually winning many games straight up. Despite their 8-22 record on the season, the Eagles have managed to cover the number in eight of their last eleven games. Bates and Farrakhan did not start in the Eagles loss against Bowling Green, but the former had a couple of excellent performances in the previous two games.
Northern Illinois is one of the best teams in the MAC against the spread, with a record of 15-12 on the season. The Huskies have also been covering of late but are one of the worst teams in the league against the spread at home for whatever reason. Rashon Burno’s club is just 3-6 ATS within the friendly confines this season and owns a margin of victory of just +1.8 points per contest. Overall, the Huskies are just 4-7 SU at home on the season, with one of those losses coming against a non-division one school. They have also lost four of their last five games at home straight up.

New Mexico Lobos (-4) at Colorado State Rams
It is not typical to play two road teams during the same slate, but New Mexico is the best option on the slate for Friday. While the Lobos have effectively been eliminated from the at-large conversation, there is still a conference tournament seeding up for grabs, and the Lobos have a chance at the automatic berth.
Richard Pitino’s club is also one of the better road teams against the spread this season at 5-4-1. The New Mexico Lobos have outperformed the anticipated margin by an average of +5.3 points per game on the road this season and have also covered in three of their last four games overall.
Colorado State enters the game as one of the worst teams against the spread on the season at just 6-8 within the friendly confines. The Rams are underperforming the number by an average of nearly two points per contest on their home court and have covered the spread in just four of their last games overall.
