Why Bet on St. John’s

On normal occasions, I would try to find some statistics or trends to try and convince you that St. John’s is worth betting on. In this case, I’ll say there’s hardly anything for you here. Not only does St John’s rank in abysmally in nearly every offensive and defensive category in the league, but the team has nothing to show for their existence in the Big East, spotting a 0-12 record in the conference to go along with a 7-18 overall record. To make matters worse, the Red Storm are winless on the road this season, something that doesn’t bode well for them, as they are going against a Villanova team whose only home loss came against the highly-rated Oklahoma Sooners. Just about the only thing to smile about in the St. John’s team is the fact that they have a budding star in guard Federico Mussini, who leads the team in both points (11.9) and assists per game (2.6). If Mussini can have a good game, then MAYBE the Red Storm will have a long shot chance of making life difficult for Villanova.

Why Bet on Villanova

While the Red Storm barely have any formidable go-to guys, the Wildcats (21-3, 11-1 in Big East) have several, none better than star guard and Wooden List contender Josh Hart, who is NOVA’s leading scorer (15.5 PPG), the team’s second-best rebounder (7.4) and its co-leader in steals (1.3), to go along with nearly 2 assists per game. Meanwhile, the likes of Ryan Arcidiacono and Daniel Ochefu are as good as ever, especially on both ends of the court. The Wildcats’ strongest suit is, of course, the defense, where they are ranked 8th-best in the nation in scoring defense (allowing 61.0 PPG). With Hart and Co. doing their thing offensively while the defense continues to stay mean, there is a very high likelihood that this all-rounded Villanova team will win this game by as many as 30 points in an extremely one-sided affair.
