Why Bet On TCU?

The Frogs (17-10, 6-8) are probably on the wrong side of the NCAA Tournament bubble at the moment. They haven’t been there in years. TCU comes off an 84-71 loss at Iowa State on Saturday. Iowa State used a 16-1 run late in the first half to go ahead by 10 at the break. The Horned Frogs closed within three midway through the second half, but Monte Morris – who notched his ninth career double-double – drilled a 3 to make it 68-53 with 6:32 left. Alex Robinson had 16 with eight assists for TCU, which has lost three straight after winning three in a row. The Horned Frogs turned it over on their first five possessions and finished with 19. “The turnovers really put us in a hole to start the game,” TCU coach Jamie Dixon said. “We’re gettingpushed around, and we’ve got to do something about it.” TCU shot 52.7 percent from the field. It was the 10th time the Frogs shot over 50 percent and the second time they’ve accomplished the feat on the road (KSU). TCU had five players score in double-figures for the sixth time this season. JD Miller scored 10 points to reach double figures for the fifth time in the last seven games. He had just four double-digit scoring efforts in his previous 19 contests this season. Miller had two 3-pointers to give him at least one trey for an eighth straight game. He has 17 3-pointers in that stretch after having just nine in his opening 18 games, including none in the six contests before his current streak. Vladimir Brodziansky had 11 points to reach double figures in scoring for a team-best 19th time this season. Brodziansky had one block in the game to move into seventh place for the most blocks in a season with 61. He is currently tied with Alvarado Parker (2006-07). In its five seasons in the Big 12, TCU has three road conference wins, two of those wins coming this season. In 12 Big 12 games, Dixon has coached as many conference wins (6) as TCU had in the last three years combined.

The Jayhawks (24-3, 12-2) won at No. 4 Baylor on Saturday to all but wrap up the Big 12 title, 67-65. Senior center Landen Lucas came up with a huge offensive rebound on KU’s last possession of the game and went up for a contested layup, drawing a foul. Lucas, a 59 percent shooter at the line this season, made both free throws to give Kansas a 67-65 lead with 11 seconds remaining, putting the final touches on an 8-0 KU run to end the game. Lucas finished with eight points and seven rebounds, including six offensive boards. Big 12 Player of the Year candidate Frank Mason III registered his 15th 20-point game of the season with a game-high 23 points, including a perfect 8-for- 8 shooting mark at the free throw line, and eight assists. Freshman Josh Jackson scored 16 points on 7-of- 14 shooting with four blocks. Kansas limited its turnovers to nine, including just two in the second half, and shot 80 percent (16-for- 20) at the free throw line. The Bears led by 12 with just under a minute remaining the first half. KU’s eventual 12-point rally gives the Jayhawks three double-figure comeback victories in the last four games. Kansas improved to 4-0 against teams ranked in the top-five of the Associated Press poll this season. Kansas features a .900 winning percentage against top-five teams under Bill Self; it is the highest winning percentage against AP top-5 teams of any coach at one school in NCAA Division I history. First-place Kansas now holds a three-game lead over Baylor (9-5) and West Virginia (9-5) in the Big 12 Conference standings. With four games remaining, Kansas is one win away from clinching at least a share of an NCAA-record 13th-straight regular-season conference title. It’s the 17th straight season KU has at least 12 conference wins and eighth in a row with at least 24 wins overall. Kansas beat TCU 86-80 earlier this season. Mason had 22 points and seven assists. Kansas improved to 13-1 against TCU.
