College Football Bowls ATS Picks Second Round

College Football Week 5 Memphis At Ole Miss Winning Predictions

Written by on September 30, 2016

The average football fan looks at nothing more than the wins and losses that teams have in order to get a gauge of how god, or bad, those teams are. When it comes to wagering, though, you have to dig a little deeper, because those wins and losses don’t always tell the whole story. Ole Miss are coming in to Week 5 of the 2016 college football online betting season with a 2-2 record, but this is a team that could just as easily be 4-0. The two games that the Rebels have lost this season have been games where they looked to be in total control. They have had a couple of second half collapses, most notably against the Alabama Crimson Tide, that have skewed their overall record in the wrong direction. Make no mistake about it, this is one of the most talented teams in the country, and they will be looking to get over .500 when they welcome in the Memphis Tigers this weekend.

Analyzing The College Football Week 5 Memphis Tigers At Ole Miss Rebels Winning Predictions

Why bet on the Memphis Tigers

Memphis Tigers are not really getting much attention right now, despite the fact that they are 3-0, and have been racking up some pretty impressive offensive stats. They were particularly good against Bowling Green last week, scoring 77 points and racking up almost 650 yards of total offense. As good as they have been, the Tigers are not likely to come out on top if they get sucked into a shootout with the Rebels. Their best bet on Saturday is to try and force Chad Kelly into throwing some picks, which he has been prone to do throughout his time at Ole Miss. The Tigers defense has forced 11 turnovers in their first 3 games, and they will need more of the same if they want to cause the upset.

Why bet on the Ole Miss Rebels

As I mentioned at the start of this piece, Ole Miss have been the cause of their own demise in both of their losses this season. They blew big leads against Florida State and Alabama, both very good teams on their own right, and even when they went up 45-0 against the Georgia Bulldogs last weekend, fans were still holding their breath and waiting to see if they would hold on. They ended up winning very comfortably against Georgia, and you get the feeling that it might have been something of a turning point for them. They will be aware that they lost to Memphis last year, albeit in a game played on the road.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

The Rebels are a team that can score at will, but they also have a QB who gets a little too confident at times, which means mistakes happen. Kelly was very good last week, and I think that will spill over onto this week’s game.
