NCAAF Odds: Oklahoma State -2.5 / Over/Under 71.5

Bet The Texas Longhorns at +2.5 Because…

The Longhorns have the more explosive offense!

Texas Longhorns (2-1 SU, 2-1 ATS) had the week off in Week 4 following their humbling 50-43 Week 3 loss against Cal as a 7.5-point road favorite. Young quarterback Steve Buechele completed 19 of 33 passes for 196 yards with one touchdown and one interception while running back D’Onta Foreman rushed 21 times for 157 yards and two touchdowns and fellow back Chris Warren III carried the ball 18 times for 119 yards and another two touchdowns.

Unfortunately, Texas allowed Cal signal-caller Davis Webb to throw four touchdown passes in the loss. The Longhorns are ranked 13th in the nation in scoring (44.7 ppg) but an awful 107th in points allowed (34.7 ppg).

Bet The Oklahoma State Cowboys at -2.5 Because…

They’re playing at home and are comparable to Texas in many ways.

Oklahoma State (2-2 SU, 2-2 ATS) is coming off a hard-fought 35-24 Week 4 loss against Baylor while failing to cover the spread as a 7-point underdog. Quarterback mason Rudolph completed 27 of 45 passes for 279 yards, but failed to throw a touchdown pass while tossing one interception. The Cowboys also allowed Baylor signal-caller Seth Russell to throw four TD passes in the loss. The Cowboys are ranked 37th in scoring nationally (39.2 ppg) and 75th in points allowed (27.5 ppg).

Expert Prediction and Pick

Oklahoma State may be playing at home, but I think the Texas Longhorns are in a great spot to get the road win in this one, seeing as how the Horns are well-rested and more battle-tested than the Cowboys coming into this matchup. Both teams have struggled trying to cover the spread with Texas going 1-6 ATS in its last seven road games and Oklahoma State going 2-6 ATS in its last eight games.

Still, Texas has won 14 of the last 18 matchups against Oklahoma State while going 7-1 ATS in their last eight road dates against the Cowboys. More importantly, Texas is more offensively-explosive and should be able to simply outscore the more pedestrian Cowboys in this contest to get the win and ATS cover.

My Pick: Texas 35 Oklahoma State 31
