Los Angeles Chargers 2018 NFL Win/Loss Odds Prediction

Written by on July 13, 2018

It is a time of transition for the Los Angeles Chargers as they wait for their new stadium to be built. They could have gone a long way towards endearing themselves to their new fan base by making the playoffs last season but ended out missing out on the postseason due to a tiebreaker. The Chargers have what appears to be a much more manageable schedule this year, although they will once again need to travel more than most when hitting the road. LA will rack up the air miles, but will they also rack up the wins needed to make the playoffs? The bookies have the Charger win total in at O/U 9 games, so let’s take a closer look at the schedule to see if they can hit that mark.

  • San Francisco 49ers (Week 4)
  • Oakland Raiders (Week 5)
  • Cleveland Browns (Week 6)
  • Tennessee Titans (Week 7)
  • Bye (Week 8)
  • Seattle Seahawks (Week 9)
  • Oakland Raiders (Week 10)
  • Denver Broncos (Week 11)
  • Arizona Cardinals (Week 12)

  • Kansas City Chiefs (Week 15)
  • Baltimore Ravens (Week 16)
  • Denver Broncos (Week 17)

Games for Weeks 1-4

The Chargers will open up their season at home to the Kansas City Chiefs, who will have an untested QB under center. Let’s take LA to win this one, as well as their Week 2 game on the road at the Buffalo Bills. Next up is a road trip to face the Rams, which is a game that is probably not going to end very well for the Chargers. Week 4 will see the 49ers come to town in what should be an entertaining game and atmosphere. This will be a close one, but I have the Chargers edging it at home to finish the first 4 weeks of the season with a 3-1 record.

Games for Weeks 5-9

The Charger will face the Raiders, a team they beat twice last season, at home in Week 5, which I see as a win. Next up is a road trip to Cleveland to face a Brown team once again rebuilding. Another win for the Chargers here, but their next game, a home to the Titans should be a loss. After a bye in Week 8, the Chargers will be on the road in Seattle, which is always a tough place to go and win. Let’s take Seattle for the win, taking the Chargers to 5-3.

Games for Weeks 10-13

While the Chargers beat the Raider twice last season, I think Gruden will have the silver and black ticking by this stage of the season, so let’s go with Oakland to win at home. A pair of home games, both of which look very winnable, is up next, with the Broncos and Cardinals coming to town. The Chargers come in as underdogs to win the AFC West in the 2018 NFL Season. The Chargers should get the W in both games. I don’t see them having any luck on the road in Pittsburgh in Week 13, though, so that would take them to 7-5 with 4 weeks left in the season.

Games for Weeks 14-17

The Chargers have a decent record against the Cincinnati Bengals at home, so let’s take LA for the win here. I’m not so sure that they will get the win at Arrowhead against the Chiefs the following week, though, but I do like them to bounce back with a win over the Ravens before losing on the road in Denver in the final week of the season, finishing up with a 9-7 record, which would mean a PUSH on the O/U.
