Top NFL Week 9 Picks to Bet Straight-Up

Written by on October 31, 2017

I’m sure that you guys all have a different approach to making your NFL Week 9 picks. Every bettor has a process that they go through to determine which games they should wager on, and for me, it all begins with identifying which teams are most likely to win Straight-Up. From there, I can put them in some sort of order based on my confidence levels, after which I start to look at how those teams will perform ATS and Over/Under. Once that is done, I start to put together some parlays that I think make sense. Since my entire process begins with identifying winners, let’s take a look at the latest NFL Odds and SU picks for Week 9.

Week 9 Top NFL Picks, Odds & Expert Predictions

Buffalo Bills over New York Jets

I think it’s fair to say that both of these teams are a bit of a surprise this season. Many folks had the New York Jets going winless in 2017, but they come into this weekend with a 3-5 record and are perhaps unfortunate not to be 4-4 or even 5-3. The Buffalo Bills have quietly put together a 5-2 record this year, which puts them right on the heels of the New England Patriots in the AFC East. This game has all the makings of a tight, low-scoring affair, especially with how the Bills defense has been playing of late. It will be a close one, but I like the Bills to pull out the win on Thursday night. They should be part of your NFL Week 9 picks.

Latest NFL Week 9 Betting Trends

  • Bills are 4-1 SU in their last 5 games
  • Bills are 1-4 SU in their last 5 games on the road
  • Buffalo is 6-2 SU in its last 8 games when playing NY Jets
  • Jets are 5-11 SU in their last 16 games
  • Jets are 3-6 SU in their last 9 games at home

Los Angeles Rams over New York Giants

What we have here is something of a perfect storm that I believe will lead to an LA Rams win. The New York Giants have been struggling to get anything going offensively all season long, and this weekend sees them go against an improving Rams defense that has only given up a total of 17 points in their last two games. I think that Todd Gurley is going to have some real success running the football in this one, which will open up the passing game for Jared Goff. The Rams will start to pull away late in this one, and I like them to win by 7-10 points.

  • Rams are 4-1 SU in their last 5 games
  • Rams are 0-5 SU in their last 5 games when playing NY Giants
  • Giants are 1-7 SU in their last 8 games
  • Giants are 6-3 SU in their last 9 games at home

New Orleans Saints over Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The second half of the season is going to be a big one for the teams in the NFC South, especially when you consider that the majority of the final weeks will feature a slew of divisional games. The Buccaneers are perhaps the only one of the four teams in the division with no real shot to win it, as they have got off to a 2-5 start that is going to be tough to snap out of, one of the reasons they don’t appear at my NFL Week 9 Picks list. The Saints should be one of your NFL Week 9 Picks. The Saints are the team to beat in the division right now, as they come into this one on a 5-game winning streak. I see no reason why that run cannot continue this weekend, with a Saints win the final nail in the coffin.

Latest NFL Week 9 Betting Trends

  • Buccaneers are 1-5 SU in their last 6 games
  • Buccaneers are 0-5 SU in their last 5 games on the road
  • Tampa Bay is 2-9 SU in its last 11 games when playing New Orleans
  • Saints are 5-0 SU in their last 5 games
  • Saints are 4-2 SU in their last 6 games at home

Houston Texans over Indianapolis Colts

While you are not likely to get particularly great odds for this one, I always like to pick one game for my parlay tickets that are about as close to a lock as you can get in this league. The Houston Texans are coming off a heartbreaking loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 8, but it was a game where their rookie QB, DeShaun Watson, took another big step forward. I think that Watson will be chucking the ball all over the field this coming weekend against a very dodgy Colts defense. I like the Texans to win this one in a big way, so they definitely should be one of your NFL Week 9 picks.

  • Texans are 10-3 SU in their last 13 games at home
