Packers vs Bears NFL Week 15 Lines & Expert Prediction

Written by on December 11, 2018

It is never easy to consistently pick winners in the NFL, but this season is proving to be more difficult than most. In Week 14, taking the Patriots, Steelers, and Rams in a parlay ticket would have looked like a very solid bet, yet all 3 of those teams ended up on the losing side of things. The loss by the Rams was perhaps the least surprising of the three, though, as they were up against a Chicago Bears team that is suddenly starting to look like a legitimate Super Bowl contender. If we all still believe that it is indeed defense that wins championships, then we would be making a serious mistake if we looked beyond this Bears team.

They can take another big step forward this weekend if they can take out their NFC North Division rivals, the Green Bay Packers, as that would give them the division crown. The Packers are fighting for their playoff lives, though, so don’t expect them to go down easily. The Bears are in as a 5 ½ point favorite for this one, with the point total set at 45.

Why bet on the Green Bay Packers?

The Green Bay Packers need to win out if they are to have any shot at keeping their slim playoff hopes alive. As we predicted last week, they suddenly came to life after the firing of head coach Mike McCarthy, putting in a solid display in a 34-20 win over the Atlanta Falcons. That victory broke a 3-game losing skid for the Packers and was just their second win in the last 7 games.

Despite that run of futility, Green Bay is still alive in the playoff race in the NFC, although their pulse is weak, and they have a number of teams ahead of them. The question now is whether their win was an aberration, or whether it is a sign that they are ready to make a late run. The Packers are 9-1 in their last 10 meetings with the Bears and are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 visits to Chicago.

Why bet on the Chicago Bears?

This Bears team is not one that is going to overwhelm anyone with their offense, but that Bears D can certainly shut down the best offensive teams in the league. That is exactly what they did to the LA Rams last week, holding one of the best attacking units in the league to just 6 points.

Packers vs Bears is one of the best NFL Week 15 games.

They won that one as a 3 ½ point underdog, which means that they have now covered the spread in 6 of their last 7 games. They also ended up on the winning side of things in the 6 games that they covered, so this is certainly a team in form at the moment. Perhaps the most telling stat here, though, is that the Bears are 5-0 ATS as a home favorite this season.

Expert Pick & Final Score Prediction for Packers vs Bears

While the win for the Packers last week was an encouraging one, let’s not forget that it came against a very poor Falcons team. It’s a whole different kettle of fish this week, as the Packers look to be seriously outmatched against the Bears.
