Week 10 NFL Betting Lines: Atlanta At Philadelphia

Written by on November 8, 2016

Carson Wentz and the Philadelphia Eagles will look to rebound from their Week 9 loss to take down Matt Ryan and an Atlanta Falcons team that is looking increasingly legitimate with each passing week. Now, let’s find out if Philly can get the win and ATS cover as a slight home online betting favorite.

Here’s A Closer Look At The Week 10 NFL Betting Lines: Falcons At Eagles

Atlanta Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons (6-3 SU, 6-3 ATS) have won two straight and enter this affair coming off a convincing 43-28 smackdown of Tampa bay this past weekend. Veteran quarterback Matt Ryan completed 25 of 34 passes for 344 yards and four touchdowns while hooking up with Pro Bowl wide receiver Julio Jones eight times for 11 yards and one score. “He had a real locked-in look about him,” Falcons coach Dan Quinn said. “Matt’s really been on point with where to go with the ball.” The Falcons are averaging a league-leading 33.8 points per game behind their two stars and top 10 rushing attack. For the season, Ryan has completed a blistering 69.6 percent of his passes for 2,980 yards with a whopping 23 TD passes and just four interceptions while Jones has already racked up 970 receiving yards and five touchdowns on 51 catches.

Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles (4-4 SU, 4-4 ATS) have lost two straight and four of their last five games overall. The Birds were on the wrong end of a heartbreaking 28-23 loss to their longtime NFC East rivals, the New York Giants as they allowed veteran quarterback Eli Manning to toss four TD passes. Rookie signal-caller Carson Wentz completed 27 of 47 passes for 364 yards, but failed to throw a touchdown pass while tossing two costly interceptions. Making matters worse, head coach Doug Pederson came up short on two first half fourth down attempts that both came inside field goal range. Veteran safety was none too pleased with his team’s choices – and failures to go for first downs in spoke up in the locker room after the game, saying they needed to learn how to instead of taking field goals both times. “Are you giving your team a chance to win defensively? There were a couple of plays here and there (early in the game) we feel we’ve got to have back,” Jenkins said. “Those small mistakes — there might be only one or two — for our team to win we need to make those plays.”

Expert Prediction and Pick

While Philadelphia has the far better statistical defense and are playing at home in this huge matchup, I just don’t see the Birds being able to quite keep up with Matt Ryan and the explosive Falcons in this contest. Case in point…Philadelphia has been held to 23 points or less in each of their four losses this season. The Birds will face a Falcons team that has put at least 30 points on the board in each of their last three games and has a player that no one in the league can stop in Julio Jones. Atlanta is 6-2 ATS in its last eight games and a perfect 5-0 ATS in its last five road games. Conversely, Philadelphia has gone 1-4 ATS in its last five games overall. Keep it simple and back Matt Ryan and the high-flying Falcons to get it done!
