NY Rangers vs Buffalo Free NHL Pick

Written by on March 7, 2016

While there are no teams yet to be mathematically eliminated from the NHL playoffs, there are a few teams that are very much on the brink. For those teams, there is nothing left to play for but pride, or perhaps a spot on the team next season. One of the teams that is close to being out are the Buffalo Sabres, and it really isn’t a major surprise that they wouldn’t be in the playoff mix. This is a team in transition, but one whose future looks a whole lot brighter given the performance of their draft pick Jack Eichel this season. They are probably going to get another high pick in the upcoming draft, and may make some moves in the offseason that will have them continuing to get better with each passing season. They are in for another tough night on Tuesday when they welcome the New York Rangers to town. If you think that the Sabres can spring the upset, why not get your wager on at the MyBookie.ag NHL betting lines?

Why Bet on the New York Rangers

The Rangers (38-22-6) are not going to repeat as President’s Trophy winners this season, as it looks as though the Washington Capitals have that award all but sewn up. That doesn’t mean that they are not having a very good season, though, and they really have to be looked at as one of the favorites to represent the Eastern Conference in the Stanley Cup Final. New York have been very difficult to beat at home, but have been a little more fragile on the road, where they are 15-15-3 right now. Last week was something of a strange one for the Rangers, as they ended things up by losing 2 of 3, with the lone win in there coming on the road against the Capitals. That little run took the Rangers to 6-4-0 in their last 10 games. They are averaging 2.8 GPG, and are giving up 2.6 GPG.

Why Bet on the Buffalo Sabres

It may be something of a disappointing year for the Sabres (26-31-9), but you get the sense that this team is pretty close to being quite good. They have been pretty solid defensively all year long, and have made a habit of losing 1-goal games, which shows that they are always there or thereabouts. They are good on special teams, but lack the offensive power 5 on 5 that would likely take them over the top. If they can make some smart offseason moves, as well as having a good draft, this could be a dark horse team next year. The Sabres are averaging 2.3 GPG, and are giving up 2.6 GPG.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

When these two teams hooked up back in January, it was the Rangers who came away with the 6-3 win. Not so sure we will see as many goals this time around, but I do expect a similar margin of victory. New York Rangers 4 Buffalo Sabres 1
