Hockey fans are in a constant state of debate about which division or conference is better in the NHL, and it’s not until a champion is crowned that the debate is settled, at least until the new season begins. It’s always fun to see the best teams in each conference go head to head, as it gives us a little sneak peek of what we might get of those teams were to clash in the Stanley Cup Final. We have a great one on tap for Thursday night, with the New York Rangers heading into St. Louis to battle the Blues. Both teams are going very well in their respective conferences, making this one a little bit of a clash of the titans. It’s tough to figure out which way this one will go, but that is what I am going to try and help you with before you place your wagers with the latest NHL betting picks.

Bet on the NY Rangers vs St Louis Blues NHL Odds

When: Thursday, February 25 Where: Scottrade Center, St. Louis at 8 PM EST TV: MSG and FSMW Radio: WEPN and KMOX NBA Odds: TBA

Why bet on the New York Rangers

The Rangers (34-20-6) did not get their 3-game road trip off to a very good start on Tuesday night, going down 5-2 in New Jersey. While that is sure to be a disappointing result for Rangers fans, it also brings with it a glimmer of hope heading into this one. The fact of the matter is that you have to head all the way back to the middle of December last year to find the last time that the Rangers dropped consecutive games. It’s also worth noting that while other teams have struggles against Central Division opposition, the Rangers have held their own, going 6-6-0 this season. Their last match-up with the Blues came back near the beginning of the season, and it was the Rangers who came out on top 6-3 in that one. New York are averaging 2.8 GPG, and are giving up 2.6 GPG.

Why bet on the St. Louis Blues

The Blues (35-18-9) had a 5-game winning streak brought to a halt when they lost 6-3 to the San Jose Sharks in their last game. Despite that loss, the Blues are still 7-2-1 in their last 10 games, and are just 3 points back of the top spot in the super competitive Central Division. They have been a particularly hard team to beat on home ice, and are a solid 19-10-4 at the Scottrade Center this season. They are not quite as dominating against teams from the Eastern Conference, but are still 3 games above .500 against that group at 12-9-5. They did lose the last time out against the Rangers, but that one came on the road. You have to believe they are in with a better shot in their own building. The Blues are averaging 2.5 GPG, and are giving up 2.4 GPG.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

This has all the makings of a game that could deliver some goals, and perhaps even an extra period and a shootout. These two teams are very evenly matched, but I think it will be the Rangers who edge it in the end.
