Tennis Predictions for 2018 Roland Garros Women’s Quarterfinals

Written by on June 4, 2018

We are heading into crunch time at the French Open, as we are about to find out the quarter-finalists in both the men’s and women’s side of the draw at the 2018 French Open. For the purposes of this piece, we are going to focus on the Tennis Betting favorites on the women’s side. A few of the quarter-final spots have already been filled, but we are still waiting on some 4th round games to be played before we know what all the match-ups will be. We are going to take a quick look at the Roland Garros Odds for those games, making predictions as we go, before making our predictions as who we believe will be moving on to the semi-finals, so let’s get right to the action.

Tennis Betting Predictions for 2018 Roland Garros Women’s Quarterfinals

Quarter-Finals Top Half

Simona Halep, WTA Ranking #1, has already blazed here way to the quarter-finals, totally destroying Elise Mertens in their 4th round meeting. Next up will be either Angelique Kerber or Carolina Garcia, who will meet in the 4th round on Monday morning. Kerber holds a 4-2 advantage in their previous meetings, although it was Garcia who won on their only meeting on clay. It should be noted that Kerber was forced to retire in that one, so perhaps we shouldn’t put too much stock in that result. I like Kerber to win and move on. A Halep/Kerber quarter-final would be great, as these two ladies have split their 10 previous meetings. I would be looking at a potential upset here, though, as Kerber has won both previous meetings on clay. Garbine Muguruza will face Lesia Tsurenko in the 4th round, and while these two have split their 2 previous meetings, I still think that Muguruza should win this one and move on. She will meet the winner of the other 4th round match in the top half of the draw, which will see Maria Sharapova go against Serena Williams. These two have met 21 times, and it is Williams who holds a 19-2 advantage., so no real surprise that we like Serena to move on. Muguruza has beaten Serena Williams in both their previous meetings on clay, so let’s go for a Muguruza/Kerber semi-final in the top half.

Quarter-Finals Bottom Half

Both of the quarter-final match-ups in the bottom half of the draw for the French open have already been set, and we begin with unseeded Yulia Putintseva going against Madison Keys. These two women have met just once before, and while Keys was the winner in that one, she needed all 3 sets to dispose of the Ukranian. That meeting came on a hard court, and while neither woman has really performed that well on clay in recent months, I still think Keys has the edge here. SloanSloane Stephens is among the Tennis Betting favorites to win the 2018 Roland Garros. The other quarter-final match-up sees Sloane Stephens go head to head with Yulia Putintseva, which will represent the first time that these two have squared off. With no past history to go on here, all we can really look at is how each of these ladies performs on clay. While both have won this surface, Putintseva’s last win on clay came in 2015, while Stephens won on this surface earlier this season in Miami. By no means, a confident Tennis Betting pick here, but I like an all-American semi-final featuring Madison Keys and Sloane Stephens.
