ATP & WTA 2022 French Open Betting Analysis: Odds Favorites to Win

ATP & WTA 2022 French Open Betting Analysis: Odds Favorites to Win

The 2022 French Open gets going in less than a week. The outright wagering lines are shifting as the tennis world approaches closer to the year’s second Grand Slam tennis championship. This is partly owing to injuries reported by various players, as well as their results in the events preceding up to the French Open.

However, despite the fact that the betting odds have altered, the typical favorites remain at the top of the list. Today, take a look at the top French Open Betting favorites for both men’s and women’s singles at Roland-Garros.

On The Men’s Court

  • Nadal Remains on Top (+139)

Nadal is the most successful men’s tennis player in history, with 21 Grand Slam victories to his credit, and a victory in France would further solidify his position. And if there’s one thing we know for sure, it’s that Nadal has a good chance of winning his 22nd Grand Slam trophy.

This is mostly owing to Nadal’s dominance in France, where he has won 13 Grand Slam championships and earned the moniker “King of Clay.” But the question remains if the 40-year-old has enough petrol in the tank to win his 14th French championship.

  • Alcaraz Could Stun (+195)

The Spanish youngster has emerged as one of the most entertaining tennis players on the planet outright. Alcaraz, who is now ranked No. 11 in the ATP rankings, has already won two championships in his young career at the Miami Open and the Rio de Janeiro Open.

He demonstrated that he could fight with the best and play well on clay, making him a viable contender for the French Open championship in 2022. This is all astounding when you consider the fact that the Spaniard is just a teenager, 18 years of age.

  • Djokovic Ready to Shake Off Poor Form (+270)

Novak Djokovic is, without a doubt, one of the best tennis players in the world, so it’s no surprise that he’s the second favorite to win the 2022 French Open. However, it’s difficult to predict how he’ll do in France, owing to Djokovic’s lack of activity this season.

He was unable to compete in the Australian Open and the Sunshine Double, but he did compete in Dubai, where he was eliminated after just three sets. After that, he intended to make a return to Monte Carlo, but he lost in R1. Although Djokovic’s skill is undeniable and apparent, his form seems to be in poor shape.

On the Women’s Court

  • Swiatek Could Claim Second French Open

Since Ash Barty announced her retirement, Iga Swiatek has been the obvious favorite to win the 2022 French Open and pretty much everything else Tennis has to offer. That makes sense, given Swiatek’s victory two years ago when she upset Sofia Kenin.

Swiatek is also in good shape coming into the 2022 French Open with 26-3 and has Krejcikova in her back pocket (2-0), so if the two meet on the French clay, Swiatek would surely be in a good position to advance.

  • Simona Halepp May Surprise Everyone

Simona Halepp is the second-best bet to win in France. However, she has considerably lower odds than Swiatek. Halep won here in 2018 and reached the finals in both 2017 and 2014, so she knows her way around the French clay.

Despite her previous success, Halep has not performed as well as Swiatek this season. She will really need to improve her game if she is to win her second French Open title.

  • Krejcikova Looks to Defend Title

Barbora Krejcikova, the incumbent French Open champion, is the third-favorite in the outright betting markets for the French Open. Although it may seem that the bettors are discounting Krejcikova, she has not shown herself to be as powerful as Halep or Swiatek this season.

This is particularly true when compared to Swiatek, whom Krejcikova has had difficulty defeating. Swiatek leads their head-to-head record 2-0, including one clay-court match. Hence, if they play in the French Open, Swiatek should ideally be able to advance.
