Dustin Jacoby -175 vs Khalil Rountree Jr. +150

Favorite Dustin Jacoby heads into this bout with an 18-5-1 record. Jacoby says his fighting style is freestyle striking. Jacoby is 11-1 in KO or TKO wins and 1-2 in submission victories.

Rountree Jr. is 11-5. He’s 2 inches shorter than the favorite. Khalil has won 2 straight, though. Also, the odds difference suggests Rountree Jr. has a decent shot. Backing the underdog makes sense.

Josh Fremd -170 vs Tresean Gore +145

Favored Josh Fremd has a height advantage that gives him an edge. Fremd is 6’ 4” while Treasean Gore is 6’ 0”.

Also, Gore has lost his last couple of fight. Bryan Battle beat Gore via unanimous decision and Cody Brundage knocked out Gore in the first round.

Fremd has won 3-of-5. Gore must strike up in this match to get to Fremd’s face. The taller mixed martial artist can strike down, which is why the chalk gets the nod.

Waldo Cortes-Acosta -220 vs Jared Vanderaa +180

Chalk Waldo “Salsa Boy” Cortes-Acosta has won all 7 of his MMA bouts. Cortes-Acosta made his UFC debut on Dana White’s Contender Series: Season 6 Week 2. Waldo beat Danilo Suzart via first round knockout.

Jared Vanderaa is 12-9, which by itself isn’t a terrible record. But Vanderaa has lost 4 straight. 3 of the 4 losses happened in 2022. Salsa Boy gets it done.

UFC Fight Night: Waldo Cortes-Acosta

Tim Means +150 vs Max Griffin -175

Means is the taller fighter, 6’ 2” to 5’ 11”, but Max Griffin will enter the Octagon the chalk. Griffin has won 3-of-5.

Max lost his last fight, but it was against the very good Neil Magny. In his bout before, Griffin beat Carlos Condit via unanimous decision.

Tim Means has also won 3-of-5. Means lost his last bout via submission to Kevin Holland. Tim is 5-6 via submission victories. He’s 19-2 via knockout or technical knockout wins.

Griffin is good standing up and on the ground. So if Max gets Tim to the mat, it could be over.

UFC Fight Night: Max Griffin

Calvin Kattar +105 vs Arnold Allen -125

Saturday’s UFC Fight Night’s main event pits a couple of featherweight contenders against each other. 18-1 Arnold Allen is 6-0 via KO or TKO and 4-0 via submission.

Allen’s loss happened in 2014. The slight favorite has won 11 straight. The victories include knocking out Dan Hooker in the first round of a March bout this year.

Calvin Kattar is 23-6. Kattar has a 3 inches height advantage and 2-inch reach advantage. Calvin is 11-0 via knockout or technical knockout victories. The slight dog figures to use his physical advantages to end Allen’s winning streak.
